Need info on visas for Aussies staying for 3-6 mths? 😊
Answer summary
The discussion centers around visa options for Australians wishing to stay in Thailand for 3 to 6 months. Key points include recommendations for the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), which allows multiple entries with 60-day stays that can be extended. There are also options for extending stays through visa runs and insights into differing visa issuing authorities among Australian Thai consulates.

Embassy and consulates in Australia have varying authority to issue various visas. I suggest starting with the consulate in your state, like for NSW it is the Consulate General in Sydney. When I did it Christmas 2024 it allows single entry 60-day visa only, which can be changed and extended here.
Thai Embassy in Canberra was different as was Consulates in other States. I read recently one or 2 states now refer to Canberra for applying
Best to look at the options available at the consulate you will apply through but it sounds like the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) would suit you. It's a 6 month visa that gets you stamped in for 60 days every time you enter which can be extended by 30 days, so you would need a border bounce to get the 2nd entry stamp
