TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen on a one-year retirement visa in Chiang Mai is seeking advice on obtaining a new 60-day visa without having to return to the U.S. After 15 years in Thailand, concerns arise about visa renewal due to potential new rules. Suggestions include visiting the immigration office to inquire about extending the current retirement visa or securing a Single Entry Tourist Visa from a Thai consulate. Discussions also highlight the importance of meeting financial requirements for visa types, and alternatives such as the Thai Elite Visa or job opportunities in Thailand.

There are no new rules, at least, she did refer in her last question (linked by James) about the financial requirements and those are set in Oct 1998, 21 years ago.
What are the Options:
Extension of Stay based on being over 50, No as financial requirements can not be met.
Extension of Stay based on dependent on foreign spouse working in Thailand, Visa of Spouse is the big mystery
Extension of Stay based on being guardian of foreign children study inside Thailand, No as children do not have a visa
There are no new rules, only problem is the OP can not or does no like to meet requirements

And for years everybody have to apply in person as the Immigration Office does make digital pictures. But husband or wife, who sees the different, smile the same way and you might get away with it

We have been down this path before with the OP.
It is not a new dilemma for her and others facing the daunting task of qualifying for the so called retirement visa or extension of stays.
You may obtain a tourist visa in a SE Asia...or even a Non O.
But the real question is Do you have the financial proofs required for retirement?
If not sadly its time to prepare a Plan B...leaving Thailand.
As it's doubtful one will be able to live in Thailand using back to back various visas, border runs etc.
Return to US if you think you can obtain the O-A by meeting its financial requirements and have health insurance which too meets the O-A requirements.
Since you were using the US Embassy Affidavit of Income to meet the retirement financial requirements, returning to US and getting the O-A should be easy for you.
Though you would need to show proof of health insurance or purchase one from the approved Thai list
Get a Thai work permit for your job as a Yoga teacher?
Or a job teaching English in Thailand?
Enroll in a university to earn a Bachelor's or Masters Degree?
Get married to a Thai? Or with a foreigner who qualifies for a retirement visa in Thailand?
I do have financial proof I do get over 65 a month but not 800,000in Thai bank and they always accepted that for 15 years

What do you loose with a visit to the immigration Office and ask if you van apply for a new 1 year Extension of Stay based on retirement or based on working as a yoga teacher?
If both not possible, you can always visit a Thai Consulate to buy a Single Entry Tourist Visa, which gives you 60 days at arrival in Thailand.
