hello! My brother (UK) is planning a trip to thailand this year (june/july) and would like to stay between 3 months to one year if possible.

What are his options? I have heard he can come for 60 days on a tourist visa and extend to 90.

I have also heard that he could come on an education visa and learn muay thai?

Sorry if some of these question are a bit basic - I appreciate any and all advice.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK citizen planning a trip to Thailand for 3 months to one year has several visa options: 1) A Single Entry Tourist Visa allows for an initial stay of 60 days, extendable by 30 days once. 2) The Special Tourist Visa (STV) can provide a 90-day stay, extendable for two additional 90-day periods, if entered before July 3rd. 3) The Thailand Elite program offers long-term residency starting from 5 years. 4) Non-ED visas may be obtained for educational purposes, such as learning Muay Thai, contingent upon enrolling in a recognized school.

1. Single Entry Tourist Visa gives you 60days upon entry into Thailand and is eligible for a 30days tourism extension once. (and you may be able to repeat if international travel get easier)

2. If he will enter Thailand on or before 3 July, another choice could be STV, which gives you 90days upon entry and is eligible for 90days STV extension twice but before 30 Sep (so actually, it would be total 90+90days only if he enters June or July). Be aware, you cannot change STV entry to any other type of visa/extension once you are in Thailand.

3. If you want to stay longer on Tourist status, the Thailand Elite program starts 5 years.

4. Non-ED visas to learn Muay Thai or Thai language are possible, too. But you need to find and contact the school you want to learn with first.

hi sorry to jump on your post. Do you know with the Single Entry Tourist Visa for 60 days, is that issued on arrival or do you have to apply on the Thai E Visa official website? (Coming from U.K.) thanks ๐Ÿ™
