Hello everyone, just have a situation i would like to ask for help. Im currently 40 years young retired military pension and va benefits. I dont have kids or any family. I have visited Thailand often with metv, so now I ask which visa option would be best suited for me? I dont plan on working I just wanna enjoy myself and travel around thailand.
Answer summary
An expat, retired with military and VA benefits, is seeking advice on the best visa option for living and traveling in Thailand without working. While the METV (Multi-Entry Tourist Visa) is a common choice for short stays, suggestions include exploring the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) for those looking to stay longer, which may require enrollment in an approved course. Additionally, the Thai Privilege visa is recommended for its ease of use and associated perks, though it comes at a higher cost. The conversation reflects various opinions on the visa options suitable for enjoying an extended period in Thailand.

I wouldn’t commit to Thailand yet if you haven’t tested a few other Asian countries.

If you are planning to spend an extended period of time look at the Thai Privilege visa

thank you, what are you thoughts about the DTV visa. Or is that more of a remote work thing.

the DTV is an option, but it requires more juggling and has an application which may be rejected, or changed by the embassy if they disagree.

The privilege costs more, but you get a no questions asked visa out of it, as well as VIP airport treatment and a few other perks.

The cheapest version of it is expiring very soon, if you want to do the "pay for visa" route, it would be a good idea to act soon

you can get a DTV based on Soft Power if you don't plan to work. You need to sign up for an approved course of a minimum of 9 months duration, shorter risks being issued with an METV
