What type of Non-Immigrant O visa should my wife apply for when I'm volunteering in Thailand?

Hello guys.

I will apply to a Voluntary work with a Charity organization in Thailand. I have already the invitation letter and the rest of the documentation requested. The invitation letter mentions that my wife will be following my visa . I filled the online application already under this category.

In this point I’m not sure what kind of category of Non-Immigrant O, does my wife needs to apply. The only option I can find in “Visiting or staying with applicant's family resided in Thailand (more than 60 days)”

I’m really confused 🤷‍♂️. Are family members allowed to apply or follow non O volunteer visa ?

Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks clarification on the appropriate Non-Immigrant O visa category for their wife, who will accompany them while they volunteer in Thailand. They have an invitation letter confirming their volunteering role and inquire about the correct application type for their wife. Responses indicate that the wife can apply for a Non-O visa based on her marriage to a foreigner volunteering in Thailand, and they will both enter on 90-day entry stamps before applying for extensions.

When you come in you will both get 90 day entry stamps. Then when those run down you will take documentation from the foundation to your immigration office and apply for a year extension and at the same time your wife will apply for a matching year extension based on being married to someone who has a long term extension (piggy-backed onto your extension) :)

You apply for the Non-O visa based on volunteering and your wife applies for the Non-O visa based on being married to a foreigner who legally volunteers here.

you BOTH apply for that Non-O type visa, you because you are volunteering for a foundation and your wife because she's married to you

then select OTHER or contact the embassy

You should also post on a foreigner stranded abroad group you can't be the only foreigner bringing his wife with him to volunteer here

My family piggy backs on my voluntary visa, and we just had to submit everything for each person on the Non O volunteer list except for the volunteer specific documents (application, passport copies, etc.), plus you'll need proof of relationship (marriage certificate and birth certificate copies). I didn't do an online application though, just the printed application provided by my local Thai embassy in my country, and I wrote Non O dependent for the reason.

2019, Washington D.C., USA. Looks like they require online applications now too, though, so OP probably just needs to ask what specific option he's supposed to choose on the website at his location.

send the marriage certificate copy AND you should have had the foundation mention that it's okay your wife 'piggy back' (get a visa because you're getting one) in the invitation letter. <- It's not always necessary but shows the foundation knows you're doing that and they're okay with it
