Hello,

I'm wanting to stay up to 1 year in Thailand. Just wondering what would be the easiest way to obtain a 1 year visa/work permit.

I am considering working under a company (friend's business) or teaching English. Any idea which would be easier and require the least amount of paperwork?

Currently I have a tourist visa but will be getting the non-immigrant B visa soon.

Thank you all in advance !

TLDR : Answer Summary
The easiest way to obtain a 1-year visa or work permit in Thailand may involve a few options depending on your situation. Options discussed include: working with a company, teaching English, applying for an education visa, or considering retirement for those over 50. Teaching English is highlighted as a rewarding path, especially if you have a university degree and good English skills. Some suggestions include checking out resources like www.ajarn.com for teaching positions. Additional advice includes looking into marriage for a simplified visa process. Overall, getting a Non-B visa through employment or teaching seems to require less paperwork compared to other options.

If you have university degree and your English is good, then you can get a job and one year visa quite easily as an English teacher.

Easiest way is to marry a Thai and go to Laos or Vietnam for a Non-O for $200.

Look at education visas as well. It's only single entry but you'll get the 12 month target

The company you work for would give you documentation where you could either get a 90 day Non-B visa inside the country or go to a thai consulate in another country to get one.

That's pretty much how you get Non-B visas and work permits

Be older than 50 years and retire, it's the system with the most less paperwork.
