What should my son do about TM30 and visa extensions in Thailand?

My son is about to finish his quarantine. He has asked the asq to provide him details about TM30 done by the hotel. They are not sharing it with him giving some weird reasons. Once he's out, he'll stay with us in condo. We'll do his TM30 through our landlord.

Q1. If he does not get details from hotel about TM30 , will it matter when he goes for visa extension?

His 60 days tourist visa will expire on July 24th. He has a return ticket on August 15th when he definitely wants to leave.

Q2. Can he directly apply for covid extension?

Q3. Being Indian passport holder, can he get 30days tourist visa extension currently?(prior to pandemic, it was only 8 days)

TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses concerns about TM30 notification from a hotel after ASQ quarantine and its impact on a son's tourist visa extension in Thailand. Key questions include the necessity of the TM30 for visa extension, the possibility of applying for a COVID extension, and obtaining an extension for an Indian passport holder. Responses suggest that the hotel may not provide TM30 details, but the son's landlord can file it when he moves in. The immigration office may request TM30 during the extension process. He can apply for a 60-day COVID visa extension, and as an Indian passport holder, he cannot obtain a 30-day extension under current rules.

Indian passport will not get 30 days extension based on tourist visa. It is better to get 60 days Covid visa. As regards to TM30 the hotel will not give so best way is to tell your landlord to file TM30.

thanks for your reply. Can he directly apply for covid visa once his tourist visa expires?

I think safer to apply at least 2 weeks in advance

I recommend applying about a week before his existing admitted to (NOT his tourist visa) expires

IF the immigration office asks about the TM30, it will be the most recent place he will stay at.

>Can he directly apply for covid extension?

At Bangkok immigration, he can apply for an extension of stay when he has 45 days or less remaining on his existing stamp.

>Being Indian passport holder, can he get 30days tourist visa extension currently?(prior to pandemic, it was only 8 days)

No, he can only get the 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. The last day for him to request this extension of stay is July 28, 2021.

@Benjamin *****
but if he entered on a Tourist visa he is entitled to the 30 days extension at Thai immigration for 1,900 Thai baht.
