I'm now applying for 60 days tourist visa to enter Thailand and then will apply for retirement visa(I'm over 50) within 90 days after entry. There is a field in the tourist visa application form "Proposed duration of stay in Thailand" need to be filled. As I actually plan to long stay with retirement visa so that how should I fill it (just fill in less than 60 days or retirement long stay) ? Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand, it's advisable to indicate a proposed duration of stay of 60 days or less, since the visa application doesn't need to match your actual stay. If you plan to transition to a retirement visa (Non-O) within the 90 days following your arrival, mentioning a duration that reflects your tourist visa should suffice. It's also important to consider requirements for the retirement visa, such as proving financial stability with funds in a Thai bank account.

I just got a 60 day despite my flights being 150 days apart. I simply explained I was going to do the 30 day extension and 2 border runs to Cambodia and they accepted it. So I think if you submitted your intention to convert to a retirement visa they may accept this. The only issue might be requiring 800k bank statement

But I only able to open bank account to make deposit after entering Thailand. I won't have bank statement at the immigration.

@Lee ******
then your safest bet is to just buy one of those flight itinerarues online and state your departure date as the same. Safer bet because while visa agents can get you retirement visas without the 800k, it's still the requirement

then my agency process all the requirements including the open bank account and the 800,000funds that they put in my mom's bank account, the second year of renewal we just pay 20,000 and the same process they take care all the required documents.

It is Hussle free and very convenient for us specially my mom is old already and cannot manage to wait for a long queue. Who ever needs assistance for retirement this is their What app: 0983323103.

Note that you need to submit your application for change of visa to non-o with 15+ days remaining on your stamp (for most immigrantion offices)

Plus 800k in a Thai bank

That's the way to do it. I dont know why people bother with a TR visa, having said that apparently the OP cant get a Non Imm O in his home Country.

Why not get a non-O retirement before you travel?

I can only apply non-O retirement visa inside Thailand, not available at my home country.

really? Ok

Usually you'd want to put 60 days or less to get your visa. What you actually do once you arrive doesn't have to match your visa application.

issue then becomes the flight out although the fake flight itinerary seem to work

So I just fill in eg. 30 days is OK? Thanks

OK, understood. Thank you very much. One more question is that I won't buy return ticket as I plan to get retirement visa. Therefore, in case the immigration officier ask for return ticket, can I explain to him I'm going to apply for retirement visa ?

@Lee ******
it is usually a requirement to show an itinerary in and out. There are sights online where you can pay a small amount of money to issue you with a flight you are not going to take. This should work ok

@Lee ******
More likely that your airline will need this, ask them about their policy

I'd put like 40 so it shows you need a visa instead of just using the free 30 day visa exempt.
