Along with the news of Malaysia closing down, If you are planning to do a visa trip to Vietnam to apply for your new Thai visa, plan carefully. I was supposed to go this morning but needed to cancel my flights. Vietnam is now closed to foreigners unless you have an actual visa sticker in your passport provided by the VN embassy, no VOA are available, you will be denied. And even then you are not guaranteed entry and depending where you have been in the past 14 days, you may be out under mandatory 14day quarantine - keep this in mind.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Due to recent closures, travelers planning to visit Vietnam for a Thai visa should be cautious. Currently, Vietnam is not allowing entry to foreigners without a visa sticker, and there are no visa-on-arrival options. Additionally, travelers may face a mandatory 14-day quarantine based on their travel history.
