Hello everyone. I want some advice on Non-O visa from India. My mom is currently stuck in India and her visa expired I end July. I expect she can travel back here soon but not sure if the Thai consulate in India has started providing visa services. She’ll live with me so even if she needs to be quarantined she can at my place. Appreciate if someone can comment on this. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking advice on how to assist their mother, who is currently in India and has an expired visa, to obtain a Non-O visa to return to Thailand. There is uncertainty about the Thai consulate's services in India and quarantine requirements upon her arrival. Commenters recommend contacting the Thai Embassy for specific visa application procedures and highlight that quarantine must be conducted in approved hotels at the traveler's or the host's expense, not at home.

Speak to Thai Embassy in India, whichever is closest to your mother. They'll advise her and provide a list of documents she'll need to provide in order to apply for a new visa and COE.

If she gets back to Thailand and has to do quarantine then it has to be done at an approved hotel, at her or your expense, and not at your place.

not sure what visas u both hold/held, and remember quarantines, if u are in a category to return and can get a slot, are done at approved hotels under govt supervision, and at ur cost.

Google and read all about it

thanks. She held one year Non-Immigrant visa type O. One has to apply from India and initially they give 3 months validity after that we extend it to one year.

yes, ok, but as I understand, none of the categ6being allowed to return are "non-o" for retirement purposes. and read carefully on the quarantine, It cannot be done at your residence.

ok I understand. I also heard about some health insurance one needs to obtain. Anyway, quarantine in a hotel is something we need to contemplate. Thank you.

Ammar Sheerazi, at this point, if she can even get a visa, the quarantine requirement is set in stone. There are no exceptions. The only option is a selection of quarantine locations, and their cost. The insurance requirement is a policy that covers at least US$100,000 for covid-19 virus treatment at a hospital, if required while in Thailand, and there is no option on this. Under what category was her type O visa? If by chance it was a type O-A visa, based on retirement, she will also need a health insurance policy covering inpatient, and outpatient medical. This, as of now, is not required for a type O based on retirement. But, retirees that are out of the country are not being let back in yet, with no date suggested yet of when to allow them back.

thanks. She’s on type O-A visa then I think she’ll need a health insurance policy covering. So, for how long will they continue with such mandatory requirements to enter Thailand?

Ammar Sheerazi, until the Cabinet, and PM decide to make a change. As it is now, under the foreigner visa extension categories they are allowing to re-enter, as of last Friday 7200 foreigners have re-entered Thailand since they loosened restrictions to the categories they are allowing entry to. Retirees are not in those categories yet, but soon. One exception that some people I know were allowed in on, as each Thai embassy can make exceptions, was because of the fact a good number of retirees are also married, but still hold a retirement visa, instead of a visa for extension based on marriage. By them showing their marriage documents, and plenty of pictures of them and their wife together in different settings, in some cases, depending on the embassy, they were allowed to return.
