Hi guys, I’m in the process of renewing my Married to Thai Wife visa, although my existing ‘Married to Thai Wife’ visa will expire prior to my renewal being fully processed!
How to manage this situation please? Will Immigration understand and allow the process to continue? Or, will they make me exit and re-enter Thailand on a 60 visa? Or, will they ask me to complete an extension of stay whilst my Thai Wife renewal visa is being processed?
Many thanks in advance for your insights

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is renewing their 'Married to Thai Wife' visa, which will expire before the renewal is completed. They are seeking guidance on how to handle this situation, specifically whether Immigration will allow the process to continue, or if they will need to leave Thailand and re-enter on a 60-day visa. Comments suggest that users typically receive a temporary 'under consideration' stamp that allows them to stay in the country while their application is processed, and that the new extension would start immediately after the old visa expires, ensuring continuous legal status.
your new extension is already under way, it started on the day after the expiry of your old 1-year Extension. It is just that it was issued "under consideration" for 4 weeks, i.e. one month. After this period you visit Immigration and pick up the "extension of stay permit" stamp for the rest of 11 months EOS
Terry Larcombe "hence no visa until March 9th." . . . . you won't get any visa. You will be issued a 1-year extension of the stay permit which will start on February 26. You are fully covered after the expiry of your current extension because your will receive a new 1-year stay permit extension on February 9, it just gets issued "under consideration" for 4 weeks. The important part is that your new 1-year extension will start right on midnight 24pm of February 25th
Terry Larcombe thats not a problem, on the 9th Feb you receive an under consideration stamp (permission to stay) until March 9th, and on 9th March you receive your extension until 25th Feb 2027.
I do it every year, jan 6th visa date, but dont request extension until Dec 24th giving me a pick up date of Jan 14th. The only watchout is absence of any re-entry permit you might currently hold between Feb 25th and March 9th.
Not sure what you mean by being fully processed. Do you mean you won't have submitted your application until after your current extension/visa expires, or do you mean it will expire after you have submitted your application but before you get the full extension stamped into your passport?
In the first instance you can apply for a 60 day visiting Thai family extension assuming you haven't done so previously. In the second instance you don't do anything, just wait and return to immigration when they tell you to
not an issue. Once you have applied for the extension of stay and your application goes under consideration you are already in the part of your 12 month extension, they should give you a receipt and a date to return to get the remainder of your 12 month extension stamped into your passport
What do you mean "process to continue"? If you mean seasoning of funds you need to take the 60 day "Visit Thai Family Extension" if you have not already taken it.
Thanks for the info, how about the 90 day report and other on-line resident documents, will they be automatically extended? Or, do I still have to manually up-date these?
Terry Larcombe you don't start 90 day reports until your permitted to stay stamp exceeds 90 days as yours will when your extension is inked in so 90 days from the start of your extension
You receive a stamp in your passport that says your extension is under consideration, and it has a date for you to return. This stamp is a temporary extension until your receive your full extension from the immigration office.
