Any idea what happens if I get a covid test and it's clear, but then flight is delayed a few hours so its no longer within 72 hours of take off?

Would they still accept it?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community discussion emphasizes that if a flight is delayed after obtaining a negative COVID-19 test result, the airline is likely to consider the scheduled departure time for validity, but individuals should check with their airline for specific policies. Some comments suggest that typically, airlines might allow some flexibility for delays outside a passenger's control, while others indicate that it's safer to plan as though a new test may be required if outside the 72-hour window. Additional insights include experiences with testing requirements prior to entering Thailand.

72 hrs,,, i bet you will have to take another one, airlines don't care, they look at the date when taken.

No problem

You can

Flights only usually delay when you’ve checked in right? If it’s changing times or being cancelled you usually know in advance so you

Can make alternative arrangements

Nope you must get another.. We had 2 in 8 days...

I work in aviation. The general rule applies to scheduled departure time and is (usually) flexible in the case of a delay that is outside your control (so long as that delay is within a reasonable time - the destination would normally be contacted to confirm this)

OK great thanks. I thought that would be the case. As long as its not a huge delay should be fine. I've gone for 70 hours before flight for the test to make sure I get the result on time. Didn't think about possible delays

it is 72 hours from results time. No test time (unless your results don’t have a time for results and only test time).

I am getting 2 tests. One today which I should get the results inside the window of 72 hours and another tomorrow in case something happens and the results are delayed. Also the f2f has to be given within the 72 hour period.

its been discussed on here many times but the consensus seems to be that the 72 hours starts from when you get the results. Not from when you take the test. And many people have testified to successfully entering based on that, when the test itself was taken well outside the window, but the results were in the 72 hours.

It sounds like you are taking the test at 70 hours before so you should be more than good.

That is more than a consensus, it's a reality.

I'm sure it is. I've seen nothing to believe that it isn't. The only reason I said that was because the wording is terrible and initially when I read it I felt it could've been interpreted either way, especially considering translation issues.

Yes, i's a needless thing to stress about. I went through it myself.

there are a very few countries who insist on a set number of hours from the test - but generally, it's from the result.

huh. I haven't checked many, but the ones I did it was very clear it was from the test time. The wording was a lot better than what the Thai wording is. Colombia was one of them, although they have since removed the test restriction and now plan on resuming it again. I was 1 week away from going there before I found out Thailand started offering the TR visa. Like I said though I only checked a couple of counties. Its good to hear many others also go from result as I was having trouble believing it.

it's a minefield! When the check in agent picks up the phone to ask "can he travel on these docs", I'm the one at the other end making that decision. Right now, it's changing all the time. When I've been off a few days, I spend half my first shift back asking the others "what's changed?". I used to know most countries regulations by heart - since March, I've been constantly playing catch-up.

I’m not sure anyone other than your airline would be able to answer you that. Perhaps they’d run with the original time of departure or perhaps they’d insist on a fixed time window.
