How does the validity date of a DTV visa work for entry into Thailand?

Nov 28, 2025
LONDON: Approved

Just for informational purposes, I know I was keen to know the latest approval times etc.

Soft Power: Muay Thai 6 month course

Applied: Mon 17 November (intended arrival date Jan 10)

Request further docs (flight e-ticket): Wed 19 November

Approved: Thurs 27 November

Printed A6 size and laminated like a nerd!

This is getting ahead of myself but it says valid until Nov 26 2030, does anyone know how this works? Does that mean you can use it to enter on Nov 26 2030 for 180 days or is the last entry permitted 180 days before Nov 26 2030?

Thank You for your helpful report 👍

Congratulations 👏👏👏

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.

That's what you should do... print it out.

You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight ✈️ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.

Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.

When holding a Non-Immigrant visa, you’ll receive a stamp until the expiration date of your visa. That might not be the case for the DTV (nobody knows it yet), but it would be very unusual.

Anonymous participant 245 that's not universal. With the Non-Immigrant O-A if you enter on the last day of validity you get a full year stamp. People use this to get 2 years of of them. Elite used work the same way, you could get 6 years out of the 5 year visa. But they changed this around COVID time and now they only stamp you up to the validity, not the full year.

6 month METV people can stamp in on the last day for a final stay and get almost 9 months with an extension.

We don't know how DTV will work in this regard. My guess though, they will only stamp to to expiry. The legislation establishing it doesn't say regarding entry but it does explicitly say an extension can't go beyond the end date of the visa.

In theory you could enter on/day before

/30 and be given 180-day stamp but no one knows the reality of that yet. Rules may change by then. Congrats on the DTV!

some visas work that way but others don't, you only get stamped up to the end of the visa. We don't know which box DTV is in yet.
