What should I do if I'm having trouble applying for a Thailand visa online and what type of visa do I need for my travels?

Hi, Im new here and need help. I just tried to apply for a visa to Thailand and it was a very frustrating exercise. I got to the photo part and I couldnt figure out a way to drag my photo to the square and when I tried to access my photo on browse it sent me to my download folder instead of photos. Granted, Im old and not very tech savvy but Ive submitted many photos online and never had this issue.

So I tried on my other phone but I couldn't get back into the visa. I couldnt access it because the boxes to press the buttons were on top of each other. So Ill have to start over. Has anyone else had these issues? Is there a service that will do this for me if I can't figure it out?

Secondly, Im arriving in Bangkok Thailand Feb 21, staying 10 days and then will be traveling around SE Asia. Ill return to Thailand (Chiang Mai) arriving Sept 8 and staying 30 days and then fly out of Bangkok 2 days later to Europe. Is this configuration a single visa or a multiple visa? Am I correct that the total days allowed in Thailand is 60 days?

Thanks for your help and advice. Im stuck at this point.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expressed frustration with the online visa application process for Thailand, particularly with photo uploads and access issues on mobile devices. They are planning to travel to Thailand twice in 2026: first for 10 days and then for 30 days. Community members clarified that US passport holders can enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days. They discussed the Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) requirement for entry and provided tips for managing the application process, recommending a computer for easier handling and offering assistance to those who may need help with technology.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)

WARNING: Only trust Thai government websites with .go.th domains or Thai agent websites with .co.th or .in.th domains, as these require verified Thai registration and cannot be registered anonymously.

The official TDAC form is available at tdac.immigration.go.th, which uses the official .go.th government domain.

The services by AGENTS CO., LTD. does NOT charge any fees for arrivals within 72 hours. If you need to book more than 72 hours in advance, there is a service fee of $8.

Do not trust other sites pretending to be a trustworthy agency. Pay attention to delivery time - the service operated by AGENTS CO., LTD. has 1 minute delivery time for arrivals within 72 hours.

Don't fall for sites pretending to be agents.co.th or the official government tdac.immigration.go.th website. Always double-check the exact domain in your browser.

Scam services may take days to process your application, others may not even do anything. With these TDAC scam services you also need to worry about double charges.

Please watch out for TDAC misinformation spread by fugitive Jesse Nickles and his many fake accounts on Quora, TripAdvisor, Reddit, and other platforms.

Visa exempt is nothing like visa on arrival. 93 countries (including USA, UK, Australia) just get in with 60 days stay stamp.

Visa on arrival is 2 weeks, 2,000 THB, Russians, for example, need that, no visa exempt for them.

Kevin Dunne you do not get any visa you get a visa exempt stamp as visa on arrival is a 15 day stamp and costs 2000B

sounds like quite minor display problems... which you can adjust through your phones settings..if pages are layered most likely you do not see an "x" to close page...As others suggest a PC or laptop will help with display issues, so suggest finding either to more easily read your task..find a library or shop with such, but what is important is (if) you have already started an application and signed up find application # and password details , copy them the "old" way with pen and paper rather than to have to delete current application and info already entered. As others have suggested, find somebody to assist you who you trust, since you will be entering sensitive and confidential information..then check and recheck application several times before you submit or pay for it..

My IPhone wouldn’t work for me to complete the required TDAC. I had to have my friend do it for me on his phone. But found out I could have completed it on a computer at the airport. Long lines of people were doing that. The Digital Arrival Card needs to be completed no more than 3 days in advance of your arrival. You’ll need the hotel address you’re going to and your flight arrival info. Everytime you leave and reenter Thailand you need to do this TDAC. You get a stamp for 60 days stay once you arrive. For 1900 Baht you can get a 30 day extension.

if they were the full 60 days visa-exempt entries and you extended 30 days each time it might be an issue.

it that true for USA passports? I did more searching and found something that said I had to fill out a card and submit it 3 days before arriving. Is that the new system rather than the evisa?

That card is just your arrival info/plans. Nothing to do with visas.

As others have said: USA passport can enter without a visa for up to 60 days. It's on the Thai embassy website. It should be on the US govt page too, if they are like our UK govt page.

The TDAC is the Thailand Digital Arrival Card. And it says at the top of the page it is NOT a visa.

What passport do you have? What visa were you trying to obtain and which embassy? You may not need a visa but that depends on your passport

I'm American with US passport. Tourist visa but entering to Bangkok twice and entering to Chiang Mai once. I'm currently in Albania but I'm constantly moving and have been for 3 years. I don't stay anywhere for longer than three months so I dont know how to answer the Embassy question. I'm not officially registered here.

then why don't you enter visa-exempt each entry? They will stamp you in for up to 60 days each time but you won't be staying that long each time.

US passport, visa exempt is 60 days. They may ask for proof you've funds if 20,000 tbt in any currency. Accomodation booked. Proof of leaving. The TDAC is done any time in the 72 hours before landing. On line. It's free.

it's an entry information card for every entry. We used to fill them in on the plane or at border but now it's all online.
