Will my friends with USA passports receive 15 or 30-day visa exempt stamps when entering Thailand overland?
Hi guys I have 2 friends with USA passports coming to Thailand for the first time. They will travel overland, will they get 15 or 30 day visa exempt stamps?

Adryel Talamantes I too am a US Passport holder. I get visas before coming to Thailand. Every 90 days I go visit some place a few days or a few weeks. Get new visa and come back 90 days. If your friends are still in the US and near a Thai consulate - they should get a METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa). Many people will give you different advice -- this is the way that works best for me. Also always fly KL is $30 and door to door 4 hours.

you mean get a single entry tourist visa that's valid for 90 days from the date it's issued but gets them stamped in for 60 days right? ;)

^ What Daniel said. Land border crossing without visa is limited to two times per calendar year. No official limit when traveling by air.

The multiple entry tourist visa is valid for 180 days and allows you up to 60 days (or 90 days when entended) per stay. You have to border bounce after that period (stamp out and in again). You can enter before the visa expires and get another 60 days, which you can extend by 30 days to get a total stay of about 270 days with only two border bounces.

Visa exemption gives one 30 days for free and can be extended by 30 more days for 1900 Baht. So two land border crossing result in 120 days. Then you can fly out and in.But if it was my goal to stay long, I would try to get a multi-entry-tourist visa or if that's not possible the single-entry tourist visa.

There is no official limitation. It's up to the immigration officer if he believes you are a tourist or not. Attached you can find the official statement.Jordan ********
