Applying for an stv visa. Some of the questions are a bit vague/confusing.

If I apply and make a mistake does the visa get rejected and I have to pay again or do you get the chance to provide what they are looking for ?

Tried to contact the London embassy via phone and email for clarification but no joy so far and I'm keen to get it in motion as everything else is booked and payed for.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) for Thailand, applicants may have concerns about what happens if they make mistakes on their application. According to several responses from the community, applicants are generally given an opportunity to correct any issues or provide additional documentation if needed. It is advised to act promptly and ensure that all required documents are submitted correctly. One respondent shared their personal experience of needing to revise documents before their application was accepted. Additionally, timely application for the Thai pass is emphasized due to potential delays.

I assuming they would give you a chance to correct the documents. This evisa process is of course new. I would assume they would email you with any issues.

I did the stv, in person in Taiwan, before evisa started. They reviewed my document and had an issue. I had to correct and come back, they reviewed them again and said I was good. The I paid them and they took my passport to actually process the visa.
