Should I stick with my STV tourist visa application or apply for a standard tourist visa instead?

I am plannig to move to Chiang Mai later this year. I have applied for the STV tourist Visa for 90 days by mistake. I meant to get the standard tourist Visa and then extend it.

They have requested additional documents proving accomodation for whole 90 days and payment of that, plus specific travel insurance. Should I try to overcome this or give up and do a new Visa App?

I have mentioned I want to view the apartments available in person as it will be for several months. I also have family and friends living there long term already, and am welcome to stay there temporarily while I find an apartment. Not sure if they will consider this relevant or important but I think it is!

Any advise appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Dan.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user named Dan is planning to move to Chiang Mai and mistakenly applied for an STV tourist visa instead of the standard tourist visa. He has been asked for additional documentation for the STV visa, but he's considering whether to pursue it further or submit a new application for the correct visa type. Responses suggest contacting the embassy to change the application if he wants to keep the STV visa, but some advise against it, favoring a new application for the standard tourist visa instead.

If you have already paid you should be able to contact the embassy and tell them it was a mistake and ask them to issue you with a standard tourist visa instead, if that is the visa you want.

I have been able to change visa types with the embassy concerned after submitting via the e-visa system before.

They won't refund the difference if your chosen visa is cheaper but if you want a more expensive visa they should allow you to pay more.

Thankyou for your responses all. I have responded to the email already and also paid. If the insurance I have is accepted but they still want a booking, I may book 83 days somewhere and keep trying. Glad this worked for you and I have a backup option and I can contact them to change it. Shame to lose £30 though haha

Why you want to come here is irrelevant they don't care in the least.

Seeing as you applied for the STV by mistake without meeting the requirements even if you pay it will be denied

So what you should do is;

Just don't respond to the email, go in and make a new application for the correct visa (select Tourism and Leisure Activities and then single for number of entries) meet those requirements when you apply and it'll be approved.
