TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation highlights common reasons for approval and rejection of the DTV visa in Thailand. Key reasons for approval include having correct documentation and fulfilling the criteria set by the authorities. Rejections often stem from inconsistencies in passport information, insufficient financial documentation, or misunderstandings regarding requirements, such as the necessity of showing a current income source or maintaining a specified bank balance for a minimum duration. Experiences from various applicants suggest that applicants should be diligent in ensuring their documentation is accurate and meet the financial prerequisites.
Some people donβt have the 500k on their bank account long enough. I think it would be save to at least have it on your bank account for 3 months.

Help please π
I was told by my Thai agent that in order to bring my Thai wife back the UK I need to show Β£88.5k I a current account for 6 months. This was in April and I have done this.
1 is this correct
2 what visa at the British embassy in Bangkok should I apply for ?
You apply at VFS And NOT at the Embassy. The government outsourced visa and passports a long time ago. Are you looking for a visitor visa or a spouse visa? The 88,500 is the capital amount required or income of 29k a year. I can see why this pisses people off.
Yes that requires 29k per year income of 88.5 in bank. I can see the earnings but if not working almost 90k in bank is ridiculous. We know why that is but it penalises others.

Different embassies may have different reasons for rejection. But just to let you know that my application from Mumbai, India was rejected because of a lack of current source of income. I had applied under the soft power category and had more than sufficient balance in my bank account. In my understanding , soft power application does not require you to have a current employment or business. However they did not consider my soft power activity as a valid reason and simply rejected it. I'm just sharing my story about the Mumbai consulate. If you're applying from another region, you may consider researching or reading comments about the specific embassy you're applying to. Hope it helps..
Most common reason for approval is having correct documents and meeting the criteria.
For rejection
In my experience from viewing the group apart from not meeting requirements is people not filling out correct information in passport ( like special characters) using the autofill passport info and things not entering correctly. Take your time make sure everything is filled out correctly there is no refunds
