Question:I will be out of the country for 10 weeks.

Apart from the housekeeping money which I will pay into the Mrs account whist I’m away,I won’t be putting money in my Thai account until I get back as I can’t do this as and cover my spends in the U.K. at the same time.

Thanx in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original post discusses concerns about maintaining the required monthly income for a Thai visa extension based on marriage while being out of the country for ten weeks. Commenters provided insights suggesting that to satisfy the requirements, one must typically transfer the minimum amount monthly for twelve months. However, it's noted that averages may be accepted, and it's crucial to check with immigration authorities to confirm individual circumstances. Alternative options regarding banked money were also mentioned.

Now on an extension based on marriage they do say "an average of 40K baht per month for the previous 12 months" <- meaning as long as the total amount of transfers for the previous 12 months DID equal 40K baht a month they should let it go thru.

BUT

I would certainly check with your immigration office BEFORE you are going to need to apply for your extension to see that they DO interpret the marriage extension via monthly income as "an average of" ..

Plan on having 400 or 800 thousand THB in your account 3 months before your next extension of stay.

BUT you do bring up a valid alternative option, though

The O/P is talking about monthly income method for an extension based on marriage. There is no need to muddy the water with talking about the banked money method.

Then you will most likely NOT meet the requirements to use the monthly income method to meet the proof of funds for what every extension you're getting.

You have to transfer at least the minimum required amount of money in each month for the previous 12 months.

Russell Graves your logic will not work in the case. The whole income method is based on assumption that you have monthly transfers into local bank account, YOUR account in your name, not your Mrs account. Then you may transfer amount to Mrs account: Withdraw from ATM card (also overseas) etc. But you must build 12 records for a year with FTT transfers to your account, this is what immigration considered as income from abroad...

My Logic being that if I’m not here,I don’t need money here!

But the laws of common logic don’t work here.😬
