How long must I keep 400k in the bank after my marriage extension approval in Thailand, and can my monthly pension from TransferWise be used for the second year?

Hi, I'm in Khon Kaen, a month into a Non Imm O based on marriage. I'm British so cant get the embassy letter anymore but have the 400k in Krungsi for 2 months. I aim to apply for first year extension towards the end of February. I also have a monthly pension of more than 400k and the transactions show as TN in my krungsi book. I currently only have 2 months of such transactions. My question are, 1) How long do I need to keep the 400k in my bank after I have been approved for extension? 2) Will evidence of my monthly pension that I transfer in using transferwise suffice in the 2nd year (do I need to start prepping for that now, perhaps stop using transferwise etc, as I've seen on here that it needs to say ITT in your book)? I would welcome any comments from anyone with Khon Kaen experience of immigration as well as the experts on here. Many thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is seeking advice regarding the requirements for extending their Non Immigrant O visa based on marriage while living in Khon Kaen, Thailand. They need clarification on how long they must maintain 400,000 Baht in their bank account following visa extension approval and whether monthly pension transfers through TransferWise will be accepted for their second-year visa requirements. Responses emphasize that keeping the funds in the bank may depend on the local immigration office's policies and that for pension transfers, a consistent amount of 40,000 Baht per month should be documented to meet immigration requirements.

I think this answers the OP's questions. For further questions about Transferwise, find the Thai Transferwise Facebook group and ask questions there. If this post needs to be reopen, please send a mod a message. Thank you.

400k a month is a good pension though!๐Ÿ˜„

Wish I had 400k per month.

There may be a way round this as alluded to in a post above but just be careful with Transferwise transfers as they do not record as International transfers as friends of mine have found out.

1 - how long you need to keep the money in the bank AFTER you apply for the marriage extension is totally up to your immigration office. Some offices require you keep it in the bank during the 30 day under consideration period and have you update the bankbook on the day you go back to show them the funds are still there. BUT some don't.

2 - you need transfer in from abroad a minimum of 40K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months. You can get a "credit advice" from your bank each month that shows the transactions were international if they're not getting coded that way on your bank book.

post on an Isaan related f/b page (Udon Thani, Korat, etc and see what people say) OR post on the transferwise group to ask a question about using that means to move money.

There's a drop down menu when you use Transferwise for 'reason for transfer' If you select 'Long term visa' as the reason, when it arrives at Bangkok Bank it's always shown as FTT.

thanks Tod, good advice.

Using Transferwise, they will be coded as international if paying into a Bangkok Bank account - otherwise you need the credit advice slips... From what I understand from others it's worth the hassle of getting a BB account...!

I remember there's a Transferwise Thailand Facebook group; I'm not sure if Bangkok Bank always codes it as an international transaction.

As I understand it from that group, it "usually" does... I don't have BB so I'm not sure myself. I have a KK bank, and even though this is also a TW partner, it no longer codes as international.. Fortunately I don't require it.

Been using Transferwise to BKK Bank for two years. Always listed as FTT, Foreign Telegraphic Transfer.
