What should I do about an early TM47 reminder for my OA visa in Thailand?

Good morning, all. I'd appreciate some advice.

We arrived in Thailand on OA visas on July 2nd last year. After two 90-day reports, we went to Japan to visit family in March/April. I returned on 8th and this morning received an email from Immigration reminding me that my next TM47 is due on June 9th, one month earlier than I was expecting. It seems to be an error but I won't just ignore it and keep my fingers crossed, and if I call and am told to ignore it, I will have no evidence of the advice.

Is it likely to be an error and if so, is there an email address I can report it to so that I have evidence in the form of a reply in case I get a knock at the door? I had a look on the website but couldn't find anything.

We are planning to apply for an extension of our visas around the beginning of June and I'd like to get this cleared up before we do so.

Any advice and an email address for enquiries would be much appreciated.

TIA.
Answer summary
The user is seeking guidance after receiving an early TM47 reminder from Thai Immigration related to their OA visa, which is earlier than expected. They mention recent travel to Japan and express concern over the reminder being an error, wanting to confirm if it should be ignored and how to document any advice received. Community responses provide reassurance that the reminder system may be mistaken due to their recent travel and suggest that the next TM47 is indeed due 90 days after re-entry. Additionally, discussions include visa extension requirements and strategies for managing visa status.

In addition to the 90-day report thingy.

Do you know that if you re-enter before the expiry date on your visa, you'll get stamped in for another whole year if you have insurance coverage for that length of time. You would need to buy a reentry permit if you plan to leave during that next year.

Thanks, Wannikea. We’ve heard differing opinions about that but anyway, we’re not planning to leave the country again until we’ve extended our visas, and we’ll be getting multiple reentry permits at the same time.

Nick Boddy To do it that way you'll need both the seasoned 800k plus the specific insurance

Nick Boddy that’s correct for an extension. However on your initial non o-a every time you enter Thailand you get stamped in got one year or for the validity of your insurance, whichever is the earlier. So if you renew your insurance and border bounce near the end of your visa you can eek almost another year out of it.

My understanding is that for an extension at the end of Year 1, you need to show a record of a minimum of 800k in a Thai bank for a minimum of 3 months before the application and keep the same minimum amount for 2 months after the extension, Wannikea. Then the balance mustn’t dip below 400k for the following 7 months before the 800k starts again 3 months before the next extension. That’s what I got from the official immigration website and several posts by people on the same visa as us, but maybe I’ve misread or misunderstood it.

Nick Boddy this is the last chance you have to get a free year out of your visa without having to show your 800k in a Thai bank. Next year you would have no choice but to go through the extension process.

Hi, Graham. Got the former and applied for the latter today, but we'll be spending a lovely day at Immigration rather than exiting the country. Thanks for the tip. Might try it next year if I'm feeling a bit more confident 🙂

Is that reminder system only if done online?

The automatic reminder system doesn't know you left the country, just ignore it. Your next report is due 90 days after you returned with the day you entered being day 1
