What should I be aware of when renewing my Thailand Non-O visa regarding proof of funds?

Hi, just a note for members, I went to re new my Non-O at CW with all the standard proofs as usual. I was using the 400k option as per every year. However, this year they asked me where the money had come from, and wanted to see the transactions. (I keep the money in my wife's savings account when not using it) Luckily, we just printed out the transfer from my wife's bank. I'm not sure why they asked but maybe something to do with the new tax laws but it's not an official requirement, so just to make a note for the future!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member shared an experience when renewing their Non-O visa at Chaengwattana, noting that they were asked to provide evidence of the origin of their funds. Although this isn't an official requirement, it highlights a potential new scrutiny on financial sources, possibly due to changes in tax laws. Others commented on varying requirements based on their renewal experiences, indicating that the specific documentation, like bank statements or pension verification letters, can differ depending on the method used to qualify for the visa.

I renewed in October. I do the

method. They wanted to see my pension verification letter. Did the same last year.

Just to be clear they weren’t asking for proof that funds came from overseas they just wanted to see the incoming transfer and were quite happy that the source of funds was your wife’s account? Is my understanding correct? Planning ahead to my extension next year my funds were transferred in to my account from overseas this year and I intend to maintain the 400k balance until my renewal next July so I would have to show them my bank book which shows the incoming transfer this year. Is that correct?

Thanx for that update.. I have never heard them asking for proof of funds origin for a marriage extension using banked money method.

Usually as long as it's seasoned the 2 months before you apply for the extension and you have the detail transaction report showing that along with the regular bank letter you're fine..

Are you sure they didn't request the detail transaction report because your bank book wasn't updated to show WHEN the transfer hit your account?

Thanx for the update.

Remember people this experience is Chaengwattana ONLY.
