Are there new documentation requirements for non-res O visas in Thailand, particularly about proof of funds and money transfer?

I recently heard something about there being a new requirement for non-res O visas. You not only have to show proof of funds; you have to provide documentation on how your money is transferred into Thailand. Has anybody else out there heard of this? I'm here on a non-res O visa until next February, and if there's something new that I'll need to present on renewal I'd like to know now and avoid surprises. FYI I'm in Chiangmai, if that makes a difference.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation examines recent rumors regarding increased documentation requirements for non-resident O visas in Thailand, especially concerning proof of funds and the source of income. It was noted that the Chiang Mai Immigration Office is currently asking for additional documentation specifically from American passport holders, while not imposing similar requirements on individuals from other countries. Users advised to visit immigration offices well ahead of their visa renewal dates to prevent any potential issues.

So this topic doesn't run rabid. I'm gonna close it.

Right now the only immigration office that is asking for proof on the notarized affidavit of income letter from your consulate is Chiang Mai. The rumor is they are only asking for proof if you're from the US (although kiwi'z, aussie'z, and many other countries just fill out a stat dec at their consulate and swear it's true like americans do).

In time for visa renewal go to the immigration 15 days before the date so you have time just in case any changes happen. Bring your wife with you.

In Bangkok and Chiang Mai you can apply for a new extension of stay when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. Most other immigration offices allow you to do it when you have 30 days or less and a few (Jomtien being one) allow you to apply when you have 15 days or less.

There is NO downside to applying early because they ADD the new year's extension to the expiration date you have now.

Ah! I see now. This is just Chiang Mai doing that?

No new requirements. In Chang Mai the Immigration Office is now asking American passport holders for proof of income, not only the paper from their Embassy if they use the income method.
