What do I need to prepare for my NON-O visa extension in Thailand regarding proof of income?

My extension of stay for my non imm O is due in January. The money requirement in my case is met by monthly income in excess of 65k. The Jomtien immigration told me I needed my statements and a letter from my bank showing my monthly income from abroad and that all banks know this. I thought I would pop into my SCB branch to make sure they did know. They didn't and I spent 2 hours trying to explain what immigration needed. They hadn't come across it before. I now like to think that when I do need the 12 month statements in December there will be no hiccups! I would strongly advise that those that go down the monthly income route, touch base with their bank long before they need any kind of letter/proof to show monthly income from abroad.

I really appreciate that letter too. Thanks.

Be careful follow it up now because depending on how you transfer money in it may not show as a foreign telegraph transfer. I have Siam &it shows as local transfer because method I use send to Bangkok bank & they transfer to Siam. I lost 4 months of transfer & have now opened a Bangkok bank account & will do combined income & deposit

Ron Angel - your take on this is weird.. I'm not talking about running around banks chasing transfers. I am proposing soliciting bank policy letters from only three banks that do TransferWise Transfers inside Thailand - some of which get tagged as Domestic Transfers.. A high level Bank officer writing such a one time letter to Thai Immigration would solve the problem.

I know exactly how it works. If people want to do it, up too them. I would have better things too do than run around banks attempting to sort a complete abortion of an International transfer that's gone wrong. I've been there and done it.

Good luck too those that want to go down that route.

- read my reply.. This has been done once before with Kasikorn bank and it worked for the guy who did it.. But such a letter requesting a bank chief announcement letter needs to be in Thai language requesting a policy letter addressed to Thai Immigration with a translation in English

- discussing it will bring it to an end.. And the end is an enterprising person who writes a letter to the Chief Dogs of Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn Bank and TMB asking that they issue a letter to Thai Immigration officially pointing out that All TransferWise funds Transfers originate in a country other than Thailand, a.k.a. an International inbound funds Transfer.. and provide downloadable copies on their bank website.. These three banks are the only TransferWise banking partners in Thailand

Just do not use Transferwise if your going to need proof of International transfers for visa extensions, property purchase etc. It's far too unreliable due to how it works.

For everyday general spending, it's great. I've used it myself from the very beginning and also came unstuck which caused me a world of trouble 3 years ago.

That's it really.

I totally understand it, what I meant was beating the "will a transfer-wise transfer show as an international or domestic transfer?" IS a mindless topic that just keeps going round and round. :/

@Tod ********
- it is not mindless Tod. It is necessary for some. That you do not understand the need does not make it mindless. "Times are a changing" as the old song lyrics said. It pays to keep up to date.

just advising him to double check that’s all

okay, please do NOT turn this into another mindless, transfer-wise thread hashing out why sometimes it is an international transfer and why some times it isn't. :(

The main branch of SCB in Pattaya knew nothing and apparently neither did their head office in BKK. Thanks Tod I will take a copy and leg it back to SCB!

It's just the very first bank letter I've seen that is formatted that way showing ONLY monthly transfers.

the other bank letter designed for banked money is just like 5 lines and looks like this

Is the above format the approved one to be used by all banks or is it the Bangkok bank's own?
Tod *********
I think it's because this is a relatively new format for a letter..
Tod *********
just show them that letter, more and more banks DO know what it's supposed to be formatted like.

Keep in mind though some banks are saying it takes a week or more to get the letter, they don't just pound it out while you wait

So you're transferring into the country a minimum of 65K baht a month into a thai bank account in your name right?

AND you want to have the bank write the letter that shows only the incoming transfers?

The letter looks like this
