Good afternoon everyone! I need some guidance and advice plz. We are a family of three (husband 59 years old, wife 42 and a child of 10 years old). My husband is planning to apply for retirement visa. Which one does he actually need to apply as the info I found out is quite confusing for me? And second question - which visa should my daughter and I apply for as my husband's dependents? Thank you in advance.
Answer summary
A family is seeking advice on Thai visa options as they plan to move. The husband, aged 59, intends to apply for a retirement visa, while the wife (42) and their 10-year-old child need to know what visa type they should obtain as dependents. Various comments suggest options such as the NON-OA visa, which may allow dependents, or alternatives like the DTV Visa and ED visa for schooling. It's also recommended to consult the Thai Embassy or legal experts for accurate and personalized information.

The best advice is go and speak directly with the Thai Embassy in London or get in touch with a company called Siam Legal they will give you all the advice you need

Let your husband get his VISA. Go get a 5 year DTV Visa and get your kid as a dependant. You should be fine for 5 years.

Hello, I'm not sure you would get a dependant visa (I'm not an expert by any means, this is just what I have read), as the criteria i found i have pasted below. May be worthwhile contacting specialists suck as Siam Legal to enquire about option and how the can assist you.

NON-IMMIGRANT VISA-O (SPOUSE/DEPENDENT)

Non-Immigrant Visa-O may be granted to applicants who

lawfully married to a Thai citizen or lawful parents of the Thai children.

Accompany foreign spouse/parent who works in Thailand

Accompany foreign dependent who studies in Thailand

A couple of alternatives

If your husband qualifies for the LTR Wealthy Pensioner visa both you and his daughter could be his dependants.

If your daughter will attend school she could get an ED visa and you a guardian visa

The only retirement visa that MIGHT allow you to be a dependent will be the non-OA visa. This one has higher requirements than the non-O that most people use, including a health certificate, criminal background check, and mandatory health insurance. You would need to check with your embassy to see if they are willing to do it if your husband gets a non-OA or not.

No embassy sells the trailing spouse dependent visa anymore if the primary person gets a non-O visa. And trailing spouse is not available inside of Thailand either.

No, because you would not be getting the non-OA visa.

Maria Starlani you need to ask the embassy if they are willing to issue a 90-days Non-Imm-O Visa based on being the dependent of somebody who has been granted a 365-days Non-Imm-O/A Longstay Visa. They probably will. So the only one who needs to prove finances (etc. as the police record and the mandatory health insurance) is your husband. Your daugther can enroll in a school in Thailand and get her own Non-Imm-ED visa (as a "change of visa type" from her touristic entry to an initial 90-days Non-Imm-ED visa)

As I said, you have to ask the embassy.
