TLDR : Answer Summary
A Moroccan citizen can marry a Thai girlfriend while on a tourist visa without needing a special visa specifically for marriage. They must obtain an affirmation of marital status from their embassy, have it translated into Thai, and bring it to the local Ampur office to register the marriage. It is advised to gather all necessary paperwork beforehand, including potential bank statement requirements for visa purposes once married. Although marrying on a tourist visa is feasible, it's recommended to conduct thorough research and consider cultural elements before proceeding.

I read lot of good advice for you in the comments.

So you are new to Thailand and probably don't speak or understand Thai language yet.

Do yourself a favor and go to a school to learn Thai language first. Because, you will learn so much about Thailand, the Thai people and your gf. At which time you will be confident if and who you want to marry in Thailand.

Finally, i recommend to you visit Bang KapΔ±, which is about 45 min by boat from the city center. You might like it there.

You can do on a tourist visa. The affirmation of your marital state from your embassy might be the most difficult thing to do.

Get it translated and the rest is fairly easy.

I got the paper work done in about 5 days and then you have to wait on the town hall.

You need to go to your embassy and get an affirmation to get married, and have that translated into Thai, and you take that to a another building in bkk, I forgot where that is but you'll find it online or Your embassy will tell you, then you actually need to go to the local amphur and and get/register the marriage.

I chose to do the in country method to get my 1 year visa

At that point you should visit your local immigration office and ask them what they're going to need from you, you should do this well in advance because there is a lot of paperwork you need to get together (my application for the non B visa for marriage was over 100 pages).

All immigration offices have their own way of doing things but, for instance my immigration office (sakeao) want me to keep 400,000thb in my account for 3 months where I believe some are only 2 months, you'll also need the copies of the 3 months of bank statements, you'll need your house owner to sign things and and I think another family member has some documents to sign as well you'll need a print off map of where you're house is, and also you'll need photos of you and your wife in every room in your house and also photos of you stood outside with a sign that displays your address. It's all quite simple stuff but it may take you a week or two to actually get it all together, it's not something you can just do the day before in an hour or so.

Once you have the money in your account for 3 months immigration will give you a non O extension for 1 month, then after the month you should finally get the 1 year extension based on marriage. I first had to come back into the country on 30 day visa free, then I did a 30 day extension, then I did 60 day extension to visit Thai family, then it was the one month non O extension then finally the 1 year extension, I stated it all the end of January and it took till July to get the 1 year

But as mentioned you are best going to your immigration office to get a list from them as to what they're wanting to see ✌️

back in the old days, super simple, PP and the gf ID card, 2 office witnesses, and a 200 baht fee, took 30 min here, so long because they screwed up a few papers, and got married to another girl, that was sitting on the chair behind me - if recall that right πŸ˜€

Start researching. This wont be as simple to ask a couple of people online, you have to put in the work. I started with a paper from my embassy stating that I am 'free to marry'. To get that paper you need a bunch of other papers. You need legalization's, translations, more legalization's.

With your 'Affirmation of marriage' paper (and a bunch of others) you can go to your local Ampur and get married on paper. Your wife, or her family, might also want some other ceremony, talk to her about it. Does her family expect a dowry?

Changing your visa to a Non-O 'marriage visa' is a whole new story and even more work, also depending on which immigration office you use.

You got a long road ahead. Goodluck.

Don't marry bcz of the visa. Find other ways and wait until you know enough about Thailand. There are lots of things to know before you make a big commitment.

Bro, I have been with my Thai gf for 2 months and we fight every week. She's always afraid that I would cheat on her. Make sure you negotiate the monthly allowance before you sign the papers.

for staying with her in Thailand you'll need 400.000thb in a Thai bank account in order to apply for a visa based on marriage.

being married doesn't mean you can stay in Thailand, you have to apply for a visa of some type,The criteria is on many web pages, and yes you will need to have cash in a Thai bank account
