What do I need to prepare before entering Thailand for a Visa on Arrival and applying for an Ed Visa?

Hey loves! I’m coming back and I’m so excited. Planning to enter VOA before March (45 + 30) and then apply for an Ed visa. I’ve been in touch with the school.

Is there anything else I need to be thinking of I’ve forgot?

I fly through BKK unfortunately but I haven’t been in and out of Thailand (only one in last year where I stayed with COVID extensions for 5 months).

I don’t need any pcr or any other tests correct?

No proof of vaccine other than a paper?

Anything I have to apply for before entering - like the old Thai pass?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is planning to enter Thailand using a Visa on Arrival (VOA) and intends to apply for an Ed Visa shortly after. They are seeking guidance on any additional preparations needed before their arrival in Bangkok (BKK), including potential COVID-19 requirements, proof of funds, accommodation verification, and any necessary travel documents such as the old Thai pass.

Correct, country is fully open nothing needed except passport, visa (if required) and an onward plane ticket if arriving by air and without a visa. Even a mask isn't required unless your airline requires it.

Question.... Some 7 years ago, I registered with my local immigration office my new address... with the homeowner. That address has not changed. I received a stamped slip (like the bottom of a 90-Day report) with said notification from them. Someone told me that there is a new one (a full-sized form) and that the older one is not always being accepted. Is this true? For I have never seen one in the 12 years I have been here. However, it would not surprise me as this is Thailand and things change from one minute to the next. I have to renew my licenses and do not want to go in empty handed... so to speak.

It sounds like you're arriving visa exempt and not visa on arrival.

With even 1 covid stamp in your passport you have a high chance of getting pulled out of line and questioned about why you're in Thailand again.

You might want to make sure you have the 3 proofs that immigration can ask for if they're looking for a reason to deny entry.

1) proof of funds (20,000 baht or equivalent in another major currency in CASH only)

2) Proof of leaving Thailand within 45 days

3) Proof of lodging (hotel reservation for at least the first few days)

what do you mean by a “covid stamp”?

is there a post in this group somewhere that discusses in more detail? I was here during 2021-2022 and had some covid extension stamps in my old passport. But my new passport doesn't show them.

they will show on the immigration officers screen. The joys of biometrics.

a ton of posts of people getting hassled at the airport for having as few as one covid extension. You might be okay with a new passport if they don't look at the computer too much

super helpful! Thank you! Do I have to have the proof of leaving? Meaning an airline ticket out?
