What should my friend expect when collecting a non-B visa in Singapore and re-entering Thailand?

Hi All, has anyone applied and collected their non-B visa in Singapore before?

My friend is there waiting to collect his but was charged only 100 SGD (he wants a multiple entry so was expecting to pay more), then told that it was when he re-enters Thailand that he has to request Single or Multiple, from Thai authorities.

I got mine in Myanmar last month and had to tick Multiple on the form (on his form the box for that choice said Official Use Only), pay the fee for M and was given a visa with an M on it at The Embassy there.

We just want to know if this is normal for Singapore and what he can expect when he re-enters Thailand. Like where does he request M? At airport immigration desk I guess but wonโ€™t he have to pay more? Do they take payment at the desk? This seems weird to me!

Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses the experiences of individuals applying for a non-B visa at the Thai Consulate in Singapore, contrasting it with a friend's experience in Myanmar. Concerns arise about the kind of visa issued, particularly regarding single vs. multiple entries, with the suggestion that the friend in Singapore may only have received a 90-day single entry visa despite expectations for a multi-entry. Responses clarify that complexities exist between different consulates, and additional requirements may be necessary to extend or upgrade the visa once in Thailand. Additionally, there is uncertainty about the re-entry process and where to request a multi-entry visa.

It states that information on the Singapore Thai Embassy website

Unfortunately different consulates do things differently and the price the person was charged shows they got a 90 day single entry Non-Immigrant Type visa.

They enter apply for a yearly extension INSIDE the country at the immigration office using documentation from their employer by meeting the terms to get that extension

OR

in 90 days they go to another thai consulate and see if they can apply for a year-long, multi-entry Non-B (where they'd have to bounce out and back in every 90 days for the year the visa is good for)

@Tammi *******
so you got a one year multi-entry Non-B visa from the thai consulate in Yangon last month? โ€Ž

I don't think you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa in Singapore and in fact IF he paid 100SGD he is only going to get a 90 day single entry Non-B visa. That means he gets stamped in ONCE for 90 days and the visa is done.

Getting a multi-entry permit isn't going to give him more time IN thialand than the 90 day stamp he gets when he enters on the visa

Some consulates do not issue multiple entry non b or non o visas anymore. Your "friend" will need to go to immigration in Thailand and buy either a single entry or multiple entry from them.

Tod Daniels I didn't say it'll add any days. If they want a multiple entry (re-entry permit), then that's the only way it can be done if SG consulate doesn't issue them anymore.

that is not gonna help them at all

. They got a 90 day Non-B single entry and buying a re-entry permit from the immigration office isn't gonna add a single day to that 90 day stamp

@Benjamin *****
they are thinking about a re-entry permit :O

I never hear of someone getting a one year multiple entry visa inside Thailand before. Are you thinking about an extension of stay?

part of the visa indicates if the visa is Single or Multiple Entry, I can not believe that an Embassy told him go to Thailand and find out or request a new visa at the border.
