🇹🇭 My DTV experience applying from Australia – Chilean passport 🇨🇱

Sharing my process in case it helps someone:

● 17 Aug: I submitted my DTV application from Australia under the freelancer/remote worker category. (I attached my professional portfolio, work experience, freelance work, university degree, financial statements, and my Australian/VEVO visa. My Australian student visa expired on August 31st.)

● 26 Aug: The Thai Embassy in Canberra asked for my ABN and a new photo. My ABN showed as cancelled, so I explained the situation and uploaded proof that I had applied for a new one.

● 27 Aug: They asked for a letter confirming current remote work, or alternatively proof of enrolment in a Thai Soft Power activity.

● 27–28 Aug: I have 6 years of experience as a freelancer and with casual clients, but I didn't have a contract, so as not to make up something false I enrolled in a 9-month Muay Thai program in Phuket (20,000 THB) and uploaded the official enrolment letter plus supporting documents from the gym.

● 31 Aug: My DTV was approved 🎉, on the final day of my Australian visa.

In total, it took around 14 calendar days from application to approval.

My advice: reply quickly to any document requests, be transparent if there is an issue, and upload clear and complete supporting documents.

This is just my personal experience with the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra.
Answer summary
A Chilean national shares their experience of applying for the Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) from Australia. The application process included submitting a range of documents such as work experience, financial statements, and a portfolio. The Thai Embassy requested additional documentation like an ABN and proof of current work. After a series of communications, including proof of enrollment in a Muay Thai program, the visa was approved in 14 days, coinciding with the expiration of their Australian student visa. The author advises timely responses and clear documentation for a smoother application.

Chill out stop overthinking! If you worry about waiting in queue most likely you won’t enjoy your stay here!

You need to apply for a 60 day tourist visa on line in your own country,

It will be easier and cheaper to get a 60 day tourist visa than having to go to immigration in Thailand to get a 30 day extension, you could always pay an agent to sort out an extension and enter on a 30 day exemption stamp.

If you are over 60 at any airport when you arrive tell the airport you require assistance, they then automatically put you through the fast track for free.

You do not need to be registered disabled anyone over 60 can do it.

As published in the Royal Gazette on the 1st September only 30 days as of the 15th September.

You need to get the tourist visa, before flying out. 60 day exempt is being replaced by a 30 day exempt in a few days

Why not just 30 day visa exempt on arrival and extend for another 30 days for 1900 baht?

I'm quiet good with technology and found it very complicated. Most people on here will not have applied since the changes were announced on Monday. I have. It's a nightmare. I was knocked backn3 times asking for more information and another photo. When I tried "for the last time". I found that they had changed there mind and it has been approved.

You will need to merge 3 bank statements into 1 pdf and probably have to do a merge on your eticket as it will more than likely be on 2 pages.

If you need any help you can drop me a pm. Happy to help you if I can. ;)

Hopefully you get refused boarding because your exit is longer than the 30 exemption so stop being a prick and spend £30 and get a 60 day tourist visa... End of story

LOL You're tied with a billion people for the "World's Biggest Technophobe !!!

But somehow you managed to get onto Facebook, make this post, AND previously do the TDAC, so maybe you're not so bad after all ? 😆

To keep the tech to a minimum, you could enter visa-exempt (i.e. NO visa), so long as you haven't been in Thailand "too much" recently, get stamped in for 30 days, and, near the end of the 30 days, go to the local Immigration office and get a 30-day extension.

OTOH, you could get a child or grandchild, or the next-door neighbor's 8-year-old, to help you apply for a Tourist Visa at the Thai E-visa site. 😉

P.S. John is right about not being able to get a visa INSIDE Thailand, and check with your AIRLINE about Fast Track for your business class ticket. It's up to them.

I'd recommend a meet and greet concierge service for your arrival, it's worth it to avoid the queues, you wizz through the crowd on a buggy having your own personal guide. The immigration queue can be time consuming and long

Half the time it doesn’t matter to go too fast because once you get through there, your back still not out so I worry about it. All you have to do is get through immigration fast and then you stand there for 35 minutes waiting for your bags doesn’t give you any good

Yes I agree, but who wants to queue up for as long as maybe 2 hours to get your passport stamped after a 12 hour flight?

I know what I'd sooner do. I always travel business class, so I know that my luggage will be amongst the first to arrive on the carousel.

You get 30 days which you can extend for another 30 days at an immigration office. I did it this year in Bangkok and was in and out of the immigration office within an hour.

You would have got a 60 day visa exempt automatically...

Can you explain why you had to go to immigration to extend.

Always good to know stuff.

You will need to get a 60 day tourist Visa

From the Thai Embassy in your home country

Business class doesn’t get you any favours at immigration on arrival , all you get is your luggage will come out first at the baggage carousel

Go online to the

Thai embassy website in London

Create an ID

Follow your way to Visas

Click on tourist Visa

Select single entry 60 day

Upload copy of passport

Upload photo within last 6 months

Upload copy of evidence of location

( utility bill or license )

Upload flight no & date flying out

Upload evidence of funds in a bank in your name .

200,000 thousand come & go out of Bangkok everyday , you will be fine

Ant W Tailor i came to Thailand 2 weeks ago with Qatar in Business Class and i most definitely used the fast track line to the right with no issues whatsoever. At 6am with multiple euro and Indian arrivals was a def advantage. Yup and luggage was priority as well

Business class and you don’t always get that so depends I’m where they want us direct. You doesn’t matter if we have business class or not that doesn’t mean a fast track through immigration.
Nigel ***********
Nigel ***********
You do not automatically get fast track just because your in buisness class . Last time I went fast tra l but was no quicker than the other que . You get your 30 day on arrival but I get my 30 day visa at immigration via thai agent in Thailand to extend to the 60 days.

You can’t get a 60 day visa in Bangkok. To apply for a tourist visa you have to be outside the country. You could get a visa waiver that will only be good for 30 days, which you can spend a day at immigration to extend by 30 days.

the earliest is 90 days as that's the longest it remains valid to enter Thailand, I'd suggest 60 is better
