What was the process for obtaining a remote work visa for Thailand from Hanoi?

Approved in Hanoi!

I'd like to thank everyone in this group for sharing their experience, that's been super helpful. Here's mine with a French passport:

January 14th: Applied under the remote work category

January 14th: Requested additional documents: Page of my passport with the Vietnamese immigration stamp.

January 14th: Moved to "Pending Approval"

January 21st: No news, so I sent an email and called them. No one answered the phone. But around 5PM, I got the visa by email.

What I provided:

1. Savings account with more than 500k. I had about 600k at the time of application. My savings are on Revolut.

1. Work contracts + earning certificate from Upwork. I'm a freelancer with 3 clients in EU, US, UK, and other smaller projects on Upwork. So I merged all the signed contracts + the Upwork paper into 1 PDF.

1. A photo of my passport + my photo in front of the hotel with the room key. I suggest you to add the stamp from immigration too (I didn't). Merge all in a PDF doc too.

1. A flight number and where I planned to stay in Thailand. I booked a temporary flight ticket + a hotel with no credit card required for a month. They do not ask for a confirmation email or any screenshot.

I was in Sapa the whole time while waiting and it was fine.

Please keep in mind that Hanoi embassy will probably close next week due to the Lunar New Year, so it might take longer for you to get it.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again everyone that contributed in this group!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully obtained a remote work visa for Thailand while in Hanoi, detailing their application process. They applied on January 14th, provided documents including savings proof, work contracts, and a passport photo, and received approval by email on January 21st after a follow-up. They noted the importance of including a Vietnamese immigration stamp and advised on potential delays due to the Lunar New Year.

May I ask what you wrote in the email? (Or at least the gist of it)

I called them twice though, the first day I applied to ask more info, and they replied immediately. The second time no one picked up the phone, so I would suggest calling them first and see, and worst case send an email

I actually applied to HCM, but they're not answering the phone. Also, today is (business) day 5, so it's not overdue (yet), just want to 'remind' them of my application πŸ˜‰

Oh I see. I can see from other applications that they pass the visas on pending approval from 5 to 10 business days. Maybe we can send them an email today and try calling tomorrow again? Fingers crossed!!

Anonymous participant yeah if I don't get it today I will definitely be calling them tomorrow. I think they send out the approvals/visa's at the end of the day (my friend got hers at 6:30pm even) so I'll just wait it out today. I do assume they want to process all applications from last week before Tet (starting this weekend). I just want to fly back to TH and am definitely not known for being patient πŸ˜›

This is more or less what I wrote to them:

Dear Royal Thai Embassy,

I applied for an e-visa last week with the request number XYZ

The application is under "Processing Pending Approval" for a few days, and I would like to know if there are any updates.

Best regards.
