TLDR : Answer Summary
Many individuals have reported receiving an 'under consideration' stamp for the COVID-19 visa, which initially grants a 15-day review period followed by a 45-day extension upon return. However, some immigration offices offer the full 60-day visa outright for a higher fee. The process can vary by location, with some offices operating differently than others, leading to confusion and mixed experiences.
There are a few immigration offices that will give you the 60 days right off the bat, Samui/Surat thani was doing it for 3000baht rather than 1900 and so was the Pai immigration office up north.
Chiang Mai WAS doing it but they stopped and went back to under consideration stamps,
Yes, most immigration offices issue them that way. 15 days under consideration and then 45 days when you come back. Don't ask why, there's no logic in it and just increases the congestion and work load at immigration offices.
I got a 15 days "under consideration" stamp last time I applied, but the officer told me to come back the day after to get my full extension. The reason was that the signing officer was gone to Bangkok for a meeting.

When do you have to pay for the extension then? When you get the under consideration stamp or when you come back to get the 45 days? I've been to immigration office today and had to pay right away, got no receipt or anything and I am wondering if they will make me pay again when I come back to get the remaining 45 days π€
