TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of extending a TR visa in Thailand involves filling out the TM7 form. Most people use 'TOURISM' as the reason for extension, although some may cite COVID-19-related travel restrictions. Required documents generally include passport photocopies (biodata page, visa/stamp page, and departure card), a TM30 form if applicable, two passport-sized photos, and a fee of 1,900 THB. Different immigration offices may have varying requirements, so it's recommended to check local regulations.

Hi Alvin, we just did it last Thursday, so you need to make photos, photocopies of passport biodata page as well as your visa/stamp page, photocopy of TM6 card (recto/verso) and fill in TM7 formular. We wrote TOURISM as the reason as already said in previous comment. Do not forget the 1900 THB fee in cash. We arrived there quite late like 15h15 knowing there is limit to get to the "queuing" at 15h30. You will need then to go to Counter K on 4th floor. They provide pens, scissors and glue to stick photo on TM7. One agent will check documents quickly, stapling them together ang giving you a "queuing" tag then you go to an other room to process the document and pay your fee, taking a photo of you, you wait to get back your passport et voilà, it is done ;-)

You'll go to Muang Thong Thani Bangkok Immigration Office. Their GPS is 13.

If you're a tourist (which I'm sure you are), ask your landlord if they filed a TM30, and if they have a copy of it. If one wasn't filed, you'll be fined 800THB.

>what did you place in the reason for extension in the TM7?

I recommend trying for a 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19. I would write:

"60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19".

If they say no, they'll give the 30 day extension of stay based on tourism as default.

>What documents did you bring when applying for the extension?

Different immigration offices have different requirements, but all require the following:

1. Your passport and:

a. a copy of your data ("picture") page

b. a copy of your most recent visa (if you have one)

c. a copy of your most recent stamp

d. a copy of your departure card

2. A TM30, filed in the immigration office.

3. The forms (each immigration office may have different forms)

4. A letter from your embassy saying you can not return, OR a print out from your embassy saying they don’t issue the letters [MAY NOT be needed - ask your local immigration office].

5. 2x passport pictures

6. 1,900 THB.

Different immigration offices have different policies. *SOME* may require:

- The ID card of the property owner where you are staying

- Copies of *ALL* stamped pages in your passport

A 30 day extension of stay based on tourism require the same documents except for the letter from the embassy.
