Hi, What's the procedure these days to apply for a non-B after getting a job? I'm already in the country and on my ''exempt''? Do I have to go to the Thai embassy in my home country? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Non-B visa after getting a job in Thailand while on an exempt visa, you typically need to either transition within Thailand, provided your employer can supply the necessary documentation, or it's often recommended to travel to a neighboring country (like Laos) and apply from there, as the requirements might be simpler. Your employer should assist you with the application process, and getting help from a reliable agency that specializes in visa applications can also be beneficial.

easiest and traditional way is to travel to another country and come back. before the pandemic there used to be daily trips from bangkok to laos border by minivan. they probably still do that.

Your employer should have all the docs/info to get your Non Imm B visa.

Your job should know if you can switch to a non-B in the country. It requires a lot of paperwork and if their immigration office allows it and they can provide everything required, then it should be possible.

It's usually easier to go to a neighboring country and apply for a non-B visa there as there are lower requirements.

Thanks heaps, Brandon. So in case I can't switch visas, are the regulations allow us to go to a neighbouring country for visa applications already? I used to travel to Laos before the pandemic has hit.

Doing it that way is the traditional way and easiest way. Much less documentation required. Just check the website of whichever consulate you want to go to, to ensure you don't get caught up by any problems like some of them requiring appointments and such.
