What's it like at Bangkok immigration at the moment for getting 60 day COVID extensions (entered as a 30 day tourist without any visa last year, and have been getting extensions since then). Are they providing the stamp on the same day or do you need to return 14 days later? How long is the wait time normally if you go in the morning? I assume no embassy letter is required as none was last time?
Is it as relaxed as Chiang Mai?
Thanks,

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a 60-day COVID extension at Bangkok immigration involves visiting the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office, specifically Counter K. Upon applying, you will receive an 'under consideration' stamp and need to return on a specified date to get the extension inked. No embassy letter is required if it was not needed during your last extension. It is advised to make an appointment online due to potentially lengthy wait times, especially in the morning.
. I arrived here as an Australian tourist (no visa required) and got the extensions within Thailand after lockdown.

Ahh great, thanks Todd. Are there any 'easier' immigration offices between Chiang Mai and Bangkok to do this? Perhaps Chiang Mai is easiest. I may start heading to BKK via Phitsanulok. Last time Chiang Mai was in and out without the need to return 14 days later - not sure if they are still that flexible.
I edited my comment(s) to reflect that you're here on a visa exempt entry already.

IF you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry (back before the lock down) you go to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office Counter K.
You will get an under consideration stamp and then go back on that date to get the extension inked in. IF your embassy doesn't issue a letter you don't need it.
The wait in Section K CAN BE lengthy, so it is recommended you make an appointment on the online booking system
