Hello, ref. VOA 30 days extension -

my landlady told me I shouldn't go less than 2 days before exit stamp to the embassy because one of her costumers got the extension stamp only 30 days from the very same day and the visa period got shortened.

Is this actually a common procedure?

Last year we went 2 weeks before, didn't happen.

Thanks

Edit : all went well, they even have a little sign saying check your new stamp, plus the officer showed me, and I Calculated the date in advance, the longest waiting was the tm30 part

TLDR : Answer Summary
The general procedure for extending a 30-day visa on arrival (VOA) in Thailand is sometimes misunderstood. It's important to clarify that the 30-day extension should be added to the current visa stamp, rather than starting from the date of application. There are no specific restrictions on applying for the visa extension a few days before the exit stamp, although it’s sometimes advised to go a couple of days earlier to prevent any issues. Some users have reported successful early applications without a problem, but if the visa is incorrectly dated, applicants can request a correction from the officer handling their extension.

I think the landlady doesn't want you to use your TM30 to get your extension early in case you then check-out and move on. 💸🤝

I think the landlady is talking crap. And you probably don't mean VOA, you mean a visa-exempt entry.
Steve ********
VOA cannot get extensions

I'm not going to argue with you but you're wrong.

99% of the time people don't know the difference between the different Visas or they are using the wrong terminology because they don't understand the overarching system and are only familiar with the type of Visa that applies to their own nation.

Knowing that, your comment comes across as blunt and unhelpful even if you are correct.

Was helpful and correct.

I was stating a fact. I'm sorry if you take exception to this. If I take the time to explain the differences I'm then accused of being "pedantic". If statements of fact cause you distress, you can simply scroll past

visa on arrival is only available to a few countries where you apply for and pay for a visa at the airport and it's only for 15 days and cannot be extended.

That is a rather general misunderstanding. 30-day tourism extension should be ADDED to the current stamp, not starting on the day of application. But it happens. IF you see your stamp starts on the day you apply for your extension, you can ask the officer to fix that date to be additional 30 days. so you can go earlier (depending on your immigration office) no problem.
