TLDR : Answer Summary
For a dual US/UK citizen wishing to stay in Thailand for around 90 days and travel to Malaysia and Myanmar, the best option is a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa. This visa allows for multiple entries into Thailand, providing 60 days of stay for each entry, making it suitable for hopping between countries.

The Multiple Entry Tourist Visa, on every entry he will get 60 days of stay till the valid until/enter before date on the visa.

Okay cool- yes it seems as this is the best route to go, thank you!

It is answered in my first comment, the visa stays valid till the enter before/valid until date on the visa. BTW you only get an Admitted to Stay period for 60 days, than a border run or an Extension of Stay is needed if he wants to stay 3 months.

My question still remains

NO, you can not swap passports at land borders. He can only do that if he use flights to other countries.

So he asked- "With that visa (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) if I stay in Thailand for 3 months and fly back to the states for 1 month then decide to come back to Thailand the following month, do I have to get a brand new Multiple Entry Tourist Visa or will my METV still be valid?"
Robert *******
Not that I know of.

Is there any advantage to UK over US vice versa?
Robert *******
The visa will be inside one of his passports, he has to choose one

Would this be off his US passport or UK passport solely?
