TLDR : Answer Summary
In a community discussion about the best instant voice translation tools, several options were highlighted. Google Translate was the most commonly mentioned, praised for its general effectiveness, especially for signs. However, many users noted its limitations, particularly in translating regional dialects like Isaan Thai, leading some to seek alternatives. Other apps and devices mentioned included Samsung's Interpreter app, Time Kettle earbuds, ChatGPT, and the Auraintellie app. Users also shared mixed experiences, with some recommending learning Thai for the best communication.

Google translate or any other translator will Not pick up issan in thailand and only picks up thai language. You want an app idea for somebody? Have them Make an issan language translator

I think you'd find many people would pay for that.Especially if it worked

Just beware that even the best KI translators will not be able to translate similtaneously especially not Thai. I speak Thai and if you use google translate, you can‘t write or speak long sentences, the translation turn out senseless because of the nature of Thai language. 😉

I use the time kettle ear buds they work good for one on one conversations if the person is talking close to the ear bud.. but conversations where multiple people are talking or the person is talking fast it’s not very good

David Hunter, You need to make an appointment and get some paper from your embassy in Thailand showing that you are not married or that you are divorced, then translated into Thai. Your fiance needs also proof that she is not married, proof of residency and 2 witnesses, take all these papers to the district office where she lives or Amphur. That is all

that's true but it can translate Thai Thai . .the Isaan dialect is either Lao or Khmer, and not even the Vasco can translate these dialects . . . .you need to ask Isaan people to please use formal Thai, most will be able to speak Thai

new version of translate has chat mode, if you click the star in the middle that connects to gemini for AI translation which streams the response.

It seems to be decent.

The issue though you have to press a button when you talk and another when they talk, its not automatic yet.

well there will be a pause in between. And for a reply from the other person you need to switch between the languages . . . For constant translation you need a more sophisticated translator app
