Me (primary applicant) and my family are on DTV workcation visa. It mentions clearly that we can't work in Thailand. However, my daughter will be school going soon. Can she study in Thailand as a normal visa holder or any limitations in DTV? Will she be admitted in public schools (I am ok with her learning Thai language) or shall I only opt for international ones?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV workcation visa does not allow the primary applicant to work in Thailand, but it does not explicitly prohibit children from attending school. Responses from the community indicate that while some international schools may require an education (ED) visa for enrollment, others accept students on DTV visas. Parents have reported that their children were admitted to international schools and public schools without needing to switch to an ED visa. It's advisable to check with individual schools regarding their requirements and policies on DTV holders.

I have DTV as primary applicant, I then added my wife and our 2 daughters once mine was approved.

Our daughters go to international school here, and there was no need for education visas, the DTV visas were fine.

We were also able to apply to the school for placements and confirm all of that before the visas were confirmed, we then just sent copies of the DTV visas to the school once they were completed…

As for international schools the fees are only the beginning. I used to work for a large Japanese company here. All the Expats kids, Japanese and others, were sent to NIST in Bangkok. Fees were covered but extracurricular activities and trips were not. They soon mounted up. I can remember a Japanese Finance Director telling us over beers how much it was costing him for 2 daughters. The costs for presents for birthday parties almost weekly were not cheap. My best pal has had his kids in international schools all over the world as a senior Diplomat. He also talks of the extra costs involved on top of the fees.

That will be up to the individual school, some may want them on an ED visa. Pick your school and ask.

Have a look through past posts. Some International Schools will not take kids on a DTV. They need to change to an Ed. As for public schools my mates 15 year old just started Thai public school after moving here recently from UK. She has dual citizenship though so it was easy. She seems to be enjoying it and has made friends very quickly. In the case of younger kids there is a Farang family on TikTok where the young kids go to a Thai public school and they seem to be enjoying it and thriving.
