TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the appropriate duration for cooking courses in Thailand to apply for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). Opinions vary on the duration needed, with some suggesting a 6-month course is sufficient, while others believe a 12-month course improves the chances of approval. Individuals share their experiences, mentioning different cooking schools like Arun Thai Cooking and Bangkok Cooking Academy, and the general sentiment is that longer courses may strengthen applications. Additionally, there is a debate on the relevance of other activities, such as Muay Thai, in the visa approval process, with mixed views on whether they are worthwhile.

Maybe it’s different with cooking, but my application included a 6-month Muay Thai course and i got approved.

It’s not enforced yet, but either way, you should be continuing the activity throughout the 5 years so if you’re happy to pay for 12 months upfront, then do it 👍

I highly recommend Muay Thai over cooking. It gives you a reason to stay active, and it’s much more fun than running on a treadmill.

Plus you will make close friends with the trainers and students.

You can train at your own pace as well 👍

Both are ok with 6mths but submitting a longer-term course strengthens your case. Bangkok Cooking Academy offers DTV approved courses but on pricier tjhan others such as Arun Thai Cooking.

I think 6 months is OK these days. Used to be shorter but recent posts and reports are saying 6 months OK in majority of places. Of course the longer the better.
