TLDR : Answer Summary
For a border bounce from Hua Hin, consider the Ranong/Kawthoung border, which is the closest option. You can do it by yourself or hire a Visarun Agency for about 4800 THB. Another option is traveling to Poi Pet, Cambodia, which reportedly has a smoother process. If you prefer a different mode of transport, there is also a sleeper train service to Malaysia. Communicating with your Thai wife will simplify the process.

Sleeper train to Malaysia is also an option

The Ranong/Kawthoung border is closest to Hua Hin. Some "Visarun Agencies" offer the run for 4800.- THB. However you could also do it by yourself. It will take you from the morning to the evening

I live in Ratchaburi and did mine at Poi Pet, Cambodia. Drove to the border with friends, they waiter the 2 hours on the Thai side. Went smoothly. Cambodia immigration had me talk to the desk supervisor because I was doing an actual border bounce, but I listened to him, thanked him for his advice and then carried out my plan. All good. Probably better than Ranong because that is Myanmar.

When was that and did you re-enter Visa Exempt or with an existing multi-entry Visa as Poi Pet is usually the one to avoid?

February 12, 2024. I had a 60 day single entry tourist e-visa that I activated. I was only in Cambodia for 1 hour.

you drive to the wharf in Ranong and catch a boat out to an island it's part of Myanmar go through the immigration checkpoint can walk back to the wharf wait for the next boat back to Thailand go through Thai immigration or you can stay the night at the casino on the island and get duty free
