Hey guys, anyone have some advice as to the best way to do an afternoon bounce from Hat Yai? Google has provided a few suggestions but was hoping some people had some first hand experience, etc.

Should add, I'm on multiple entry Non B with work permit.

Cheers!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Traveling from Hat Yai for an afternoon border bounce can be efficiently done by various means. Some users recommend taking a mini bus to Sadao, which costs around 60 baht and takes approximately 90 minutes. Once at the border, a motorbike taxi to Malaysia and back costs about 150 baht and requires a short wait for the mini bus to return. Alternatively, chartering a taxi is a quicker option, with an estimated cost of 800 baht each way, keeping in mind to allow roughly 4 hours for the round trip, including walks through immigration. Wang Prachan is another border crossing option that users found to be smooth and quick.

To those interested, I ended up getting a mini bus from the bus station to Sadao for 60 baht. Took around 90 minutes. At the border I got a motorbike taxi to take me to Malaysia and back for 100 baht. Took about 20 minutes all up. Currently waiting for my mini bus to fill up and head back to Hat Yai. The return trip is 100 baht.

So 260 baht and roughly 3 hours all up. Not too bad!

Oh and they didn't ask to see cash or anything like that. Just my work permit.

Hi, I just did the border bounce at dannok (sadao) with a multiple entry tourist visa. It is a 1 hour drive from hat yai. I had 20.000 , flight ticket and booking of accomodation on me but they did not ask for it. It is 150 bath for the motorbike driver to drive you in and out of Malaysia and back to Thailand. Very nice immigration staff. It took me 20 minutes only. Good luck !

Thanks! I've been through there before but only when going to and from Penang. How did you get there from Hat Yai and back? Taxi?

The best, quickest, way would be to charter a taxi there and back. This was 800 baht each way a couple years ago. They can drop you off at the border, then just walk to the various immigrations for your stamps. You'll end up walking a bit over 1 km total. Catch the taxi back to Hat Yai. If traffic is ok, figure 4 hours total time.

If you just want to border bounce you could take a van to sadao and cross over. Be prepared to show 20,000thb cash at the Thai immigration
