TLDR : Answer Summary
When a marriage extension application is sent to Bangkok for consideration, several checks may occur. Primarily, a clerk reviews the submitted documentation for completeness. If issues arise, they are typically addressed at the local office prior to sending the application. Additionally, applicants can expect a home visit from immigration officials shortly after submission, where they verify details, ask questions, and take photographs. Historically, extensions based on marriage to a Thai citizen or raising Thai children have a high approval rate, and applicants generally return to complete the process on their scheduled date.

I have NO retired and got a home visit from imigration when I did my extension. Not that it mattered to us, they are welcome to come here and photograph
I would love, if this would be scrapped in the future or a least minimized to a few days! (yeah I’m aware it sadly won’t happen 99%)There are enough people who see that as a “lost month”, due to not being able to travel out of the country.
thx good to know, as I’ll have to do that in BKK soon, now as the Evisa countries don’t issue multiple -entry marriage visa any more.

you get a visit from immigration to your home a few days after application. They ask a few questions, take a few notes, compare photos submitted with actual, ask witnesses a few questions and finally take outside the house with the house number. Same procedure as last year
that is not always the case, we haven’t had a home visit from immigration for about 7 years now, even though I lodge my yearly extension based on marriage, but each office is different.
UC until 25 July ( 21 days). I assume that Bangkok immigration has the capability to do a home visit if they think one is warranted based on the interview even though they don’t do it routinely.
If I was to guess I'd say nothing 🙂 I mean some clerk might check it for completed documentation etc, but face it if anything wasn't right they'd have caught it at the office where you applied for the year extension
AFAIK the paperwork gets sent to the division office in bangkok and then you show up on the date your under consideration stamp runs out and they ink in the year.
I have never ever seen someone get an under consideration stamp based on marriage to a thai or raising thai children NOT get their year extension approved.
