90 days report red stamp fine

Has anyone ever had a ฿2,000 fine for filing the Thai 90-day report (TM.47) late and received a red stamp in their passport saying “อยู่เกิน 90 วัน ไม่แจ้งที่พักต่อเจ้าพนักงาน”?

I did not overstay my visa/permission to stay — I was only late with the 90-day notification and paid the ฿2,000 fine.

Has anyone with the same stamp left Thailand and later re-entered without any problems? Has anyone ever been questioned or denied entry specifically because of this stamp?
Answer summary
The conversation revolves around the experiences and consequences of receiving a red stamp for filing a late 90-day report (TM.47) in Thailand, which carries a standard fine of 2,000 Baht. Many users shared their experiences, noting that having the red stamp typically does not affect future visa renewals or re-entry into Thailand, provided that proper reporting and fines are acknowledged. The discussion includes advice on how to handle 90-day reports, reminders for timely filing, and the implications of the fines if one misses the reporting period.

Just lazy & irresponsible people, you might think just paying the fine is the end, if you collect lots of these stamps they can easily decide to deport you, never try to out smart immigration, they are all powerful. Never think western logic in Thailand

Graham Seal naaah.got my second 2000thb penalty this year. Apparently, an extension of a non-o visa I did in june did not count as a check-in in their system and the 90 days were counting from 14 April when I came back to Thailand from a short trip abroad which is ridiculous. So yeah, they fined me today. First time this year I had only 1 day overdue. The old dude at the counter didn't care. Didn't care if I was sick, didn't care if I had work. No, 1 day - 2000thb please.

Alan Baskaev Alan Baskaev Did all the loads of documents you submitted include a TM47 form? Did the IO hand back to you a 90-day report receipt with a 'next due date' or attach it to your passport?

If no, no and no...well then you did not do any 90-day report, nor did the IO offer to do a 'courtesy update' (as a few offices apparently do) of your report status.

And why should they? It's YOUR responsibility to track your 90-day status re the due date. This is elementary, really, and has been discussed ad nauseum for eons.

well, i learned it today. I was curious how come showing up in person at the immigration, with my wife, a shit loads of documents, leaving my passport and documents there for 2 weeks doesn't count as a notification of stay. Do you understand what I'm trying to communicate here?
Brandon ************

@Alan ********
an extension is not a 90 day report. They're completely separate. Unless an immigration officer puts a new 90 day report slip in your passport with a new date, it's still your responsibility to do your next report based on the original date.

Normally, foreigners holding a long-term visa or extension of stay in Thailand are required to report their address to Immigration every 90 days.

If you leave Thailand and want to return while keeping your current permission to stay, you generally need to obtain a Re-entry Permit before leaving. Otherwise, your current permission to stay may be cancelled when you depart Thailand.

The fine you received for the late 90-day report will not affect your ability to re-enter Thailand. Just make sure you obtain a Re-entry Permit before leaving Thailand .

It is nothing. I got one when i was late 11 months to do 90-day report on my Non-Imm O visa, few years back. The fine was THB2000 still, and i was late 11 months. It was also a red-stamped like yours but with different date. Think of it as a receipt from IO, but it really had no effect to extend my Non-Imm O visa for another year.

James Smith yes
Graham ******
Graham ******
James Smith some people never do a 90 day report and just pay the 2000B fine everytime they get a new extension with no other consequences
Johan_B*******
Johan_B*******
James Smith yes. 2000 baht fine is imposed either you are late one day or late 340 days. If you do not mind paying 2000 baht to the government, then you dont have to worry about this at all. Alternatively, you can simply "check-out" of the country and "check-in" and your 90-day reporting duty is reset to 0 day.

However, keep in mind that if you had paid 2000 baht fine on your first late reporting, then 91 days later you are late again, you will still end up paying 2000 baht (and so on until your third-time reporting in one fiscal year, your fourth-time report should be to renew your visa)

Therefore, it is "recommended" if you are already late, and you believe you will once or twice late again next time, better just forget it once and for all then on the day you need to submit application for your visa extension, you just pay a one-time 2000 baht fine. Nobody at the office is gonna say anything at all. Been there and done that

(but here? on the facebook group? dear lord heaven bunch of one-time holiday goers will try to scare you off with all sort of stuff as long as they get to write something to make themselves feel relevant).

Johan_Budiotso I usually leave the country before I hit the 180 day mark now since they implemented the new tax law. I guess I won’t bother with the 90 day report anymore now that I know that I won’t get fined. Just to be sure, they don’t check the 90 day notice in my passport at immigration at the airport and fine me there?

Karl Diekman I was advised against this by the Immigration boss herself. She checked trough my passport carefully, and told me that I rarely had exited more often than twice on any of the past 1-year extensions. She actually said "you are throwing your money away for all these 3800 Baht multi entry permits. In the recent 12 years, you would have fared much better on single re-entry permits before each exit, you could have saved yourself 20,000 Baht". That's when I started to buy only single re-entry permits, because this was actually true and a lot of money

The 2000 baht fine is the standard fine for reporting late. The stamp just confirms this. It shouldn't affect you going forward
