What does it mean if my dependent visa application shows 'pending approval' and then gets cancelled?

Has anyone come across "application cancelled" after the status changed to "pending approval"?

Dependent visa @ Hanoi Embassy

· 14 June (Sun): Application submitted

· 15 June (Mon): Pending document check

· 16 June (Tue): Morning – pending approval / Afternoon – cancelled

Does "pending approval" mean there were no problems with the documents? (Or At least with the most basic bio-data?)

Then why was it cancelled in the end?

I learned from this group that "cancellation" is mostly due to input mistakes in bio-data.

I'm trying to figure out which part went wrong….

You apply for a visa, you not buy a visa. It is not the 7-11 with a tosti.

Your documents are checked, double checked and a final decison is made.

Different people look at the application. First, a lower level staff member reviews to ensure all required documents are there and then it gets sent to someone who does a more detail review and makes a decision. It sounds like the error in your applicant was found during the second phase.
