Hope you can advise. I was going for a Smart Visa S extension but was declined. They messaged me saying that I have to cancel my current Smart Visa at the OSS before the 23rd (my current smart visa s allows me to the 24th December), then apply for an emergency extension at Chaengwattana road, immigration office, Bangkok within the same day.

Do you know what documents I need to complete or take for this emergency extension?

Is this the same emergency extension as people are using for covid situation?

Is there any other visa options I have? Such as a 60 day tourist without leaving thailand?

Thanks for your help guys, your group as been a huge help over the years

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice after their Smart Visa S extension was declined, requiring them to cancel their current visa and apply for an emergency extension at Chaengwattana before the 23rd. They are asking about the necessary documents for this emergency extension and if it's related to the COVID-19 situation, as well as inquiring about alternative visa options such as a tourist visa without leaving Thailand.

just to be clear, I have abso-tively, posi-lutely NO idea how being denied a Smart Visa extension actually works.

OR

where you'd go for your unable to travel due to covid extension after you cancel the stamp you got from that visa.

I think I can count on one hand with fingers left over the number of people I know on a Smart visa.

I remember earlier in the year there was a BIG push down on one of the "Islands of Misfit Toyz" (those people on the islands in the south) about signing up for the smart visa, partnering with each other, and a deadline to get the applications in, etc.

I dunno, when I researched it, it sure seemed like a crock 'o sh*t to me :O

Did you get the smart visa put in your passport here inside thailand?

Hi Tod. I’ve figured it out. I go to the OSS and get it cancelled but then a new stamp to the 24th. Then I go to get the extension due to covid as you said

Yes the smart visa was put into my passport

I had the smart visa for a legit company start up. For 1 year. But due to covid and the business not really working out. They declined my 2 year extension. But I understand why and I know the business would likely fail

Life I guess. Just got to move on

Thanks again for your help

Nope, no option for a tourist visa in country, you buy tourist visas from a thai consulate in another country before you come here.

Do what they say, cancel your Smart visa, go to Chaengwattana and apply for the unable to travel due to covid 60 day extension.

Thank you Tod. I’m guessing it’s the same as always. The earlier I get there the better? I think last time I was queuing up outside at 5am 😮

Oh and it's not an emergency extension, (that's only a 7 day get out of dodge extension denied stamp) it's just the standard 60 day unable to travel due to covid extension..
