Hello

What documents does one need for London embassy?

Do they ask for 2 years income tax?

I’ve been rejected from Ho Chi Minh.

I haven’t worked for over two years as I’ve been living off savings. I got a job in recently, mainly for the dtv. But as I haven’t paid any tax, or had incomes , I’m thinking that’s probably the reason I got rejected.

So keen to know what kind of requirements London has, before I travel home to apply from there. If I’m likely to have the same issue I won’t bother and set up home elsewhere.

I didn’t tell them that obviously. But I’m lucky enough to be in a position where I don’t really need to work.

But yea, the lack of income / tax.

That’s why I ask if I need to show income tax in London.

if you don't want to work remotely from Thailand why not just go the soft power route? Why complicate matters?

I never said I don’t want to work.

I didn’t take the soft power because I don’t want to 1. Take a course 2. Fix myself to one location in Thailand.

I told them my tax return wasn’t due till April 2026 and gave them my HMRC self assessment letter with unique tax payer reference number and they were happy with that and I far exceeded the 500K savings

I Would recommend using an agency DFY service - I recently had a pretty smooth experience with Borderless Setup and the bank statements did not matter, I did not need funds in the account - Just 3 months statements

Went through London Embassy and approved within 3 weeks

Best to wait until you work with this company at least 6 months and apply again. The embassy seems to don't like when people starting new job.

they asked for 6 months bank statement

Letter from company I now work for

Business reg document which I didn’t as it’s an ordinary partnership so sent VAT reg document which has all the necessary info on

And 2 years income tax. I explained how I have been living off savings for the past two years and have only recently just got a job

I then went to pending approval then today got rejected.

yeah if you have no income the last couple of months they cant really see how you can sustain yourself. Having a good complete application is important. I was in a similar point for my first application. Managed to fix better application with more clear documents for my second application and got approved in hanoi

yea, this post took a while to get approved. I already thought about it since then, and I’ve already booked my flights to the Philippines. We will see in the future but I’m not going to make a rash decision and potentially waste another £1k+ flying to London to try again
