My DTV has been approved! I applied in Jakarta as a tourist in person. 3 days processing time. The applicant needs to stay in Jakarta during the processing period. I submitted the following:

Visa application form.

2 photos.

Copy of my passport biometric page.

Bank statement (3 months) highlighted the source of income that were from the projects/clients.

Certificate of Employment (mentioned "'Remote Worker")

Portfolio of projects.

Fee of 5.6million IDR (about 12,712THB)

Only 1 question asked: "Why don't you apply in your home country?"

My reply: "The embassy in my country is not open to DTV yet."

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user successfully obtained a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) in Jakarta with a three-day processing time. They outlined their application requirements, including a visa application form, passport copy, bank statements, and a certificate of employment. Despite inquiries about additional documentation like proof of address or notarized documents, several commenters noted that these were not required in Jakarta. The conversation also covered the necessary funds in the bank statement and how the embassy may verify employment details. Several expats shared their plans to apply for the DTV, discussing challenges faced due to embassy restrictions in their home countries.

Do you think if we answer to the last question : "i didn't want to come back to my country now, because I was in Thailand before coming here to apply, and it would have cost me 4 x more to come back there" is ok?

Or "i was in Thailand and would like to do the medical treatment as soon as possible there"?

For bank statements,

Is this ok if i show 3 last months for 1 saving account with more than 500k

AND

3 last months of 2 current accounts with income (40k/month) + 80k on it, and 650k (550k transferred this month so visible on statement) on the other one?
Andrew *****
Does the amount of 500k needs to be maintained each month for the 3 months statement that you have submitted, Erica?
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Andrew ****
: Yes, the amount of money has been for my bank account for several months. Of course, there were many transactions but still 500k at the end of each month. Some Embassies want to see more than 1 month of funds to avoid applicants borrowing money for a week or a short while just to qualify for DTV.

Hi
@Erica *******
I have applied and they have asked for letter from employer showing my current employment status and salary

Now problem is both my Lead and HR are on leave

And embassy has given me weeks time.

May i know if in your case did someone called your employer to verify your details?

In worst case I am thinking to prepare a format and submit it because i have already submitted contract and salary slip copies of last 3 months.

Let me know if embassy actually verified from your employer by calling or email?

@Goel *******
:Which embassy did you apply at? I don't think my clients were contacted, though their email or phone numbers were listed in my documents. If anyone were contacted, I would be informed.

: I guess it also depends on your nationality.

Where do you apply in jkt ? And the proof of 500,000 thb wlmust be credited in bank statement ? Or can be a guarantor ? It only takes 3 days processing? Employment letter from a Singapore company right ?
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Jevis *****
: At Kawasan Mega Kuningan. I have the money in my bank, I am not sure about using a guarantor. Printed bank statements from internet banking. Yes, 3 days to process after submission of documents. Your clients or employer can be from any country, except Thailand.
Jevis ******
@Erica *******
so meanwhile while waiting you stayed in the hotel? They will call you when approve to collect passport? They just want to see the money have 500,000 in your bank? Able to stated what documents to you actually bring there? Do you need appointment or walk in? How long the process take for application there? Meanwhile sgp still don't accept dtv. So once approve passport return. You be able to enter Thailand with this dtv visa? Is it sticker on passport chop or a card issue or letter issue ? Once reach Thailand anything to apply or handle?
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Jevis *****
: Yes, stay in the hotel while waiting for approval. They will not call, a collection slip will be given to each applicant stating the date of collection. I have listed the documents in the main post. Walk-in application in the morning. There will be a sticker in the passport if the application is successful. I am already in Thailand. Just go through the immigration at the airport and show the sticker. The officer will stamp a date that is 180 days from the day of entry.

Hi thx for sharing, do you have any info on the requirements of banking details and format for the certificate of employment? I want to make sure of these before flying to Jkt to process this.
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Mike *****
: Print bank statement from your internet banking (I submitted 3 months to play safe). I followed a sample Certificate of employment from the internet, include your passport number and {whatever designation (Remote Worker)}. According to the staff, it is beneficial to submit a portfolio though it is not mandatory.

: No, if one applies on Mon morning, collect passport on Thurs afternoon.

Did you submit online first and then go in person or apply in person when you land in Jakarta?

Thank you for the great info!

what exactly was in the Certificate of Employment ?
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Sam ********
: Before this, I had no idea too. I followed a sample from the internet. I added my passport number and 'position' as a Remote Worker. The certificate should bear a corporate letterhead and signed by a director or boss with a company stamp.
Sam *********
ok, i wonder what is required if just an affiliate for someone and so not directly employed. hopefully just evidence of regular monthly payments from overseas company to a uk paypal/bank is ok
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Sam ********
: Use a contract FOR service. It is a common practice for freelancers in Singapore to sign Contracts For Service.
Alexander ****
What is your home country
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Alexander ***
: Singapore
Alex ******
Did they specifically asked for 3 months statements? (and to highlight which payments came from your work?) Other embassies just want to see 1 (last) statement and with 500k balance, not checking the payments too.
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Alex *****
: They didn't request. I did it to play safe. I prepared even more documents, but the staff said not needed. She took those that would be useful.

"Only 1 question asked: "Why don't you apply in your home country?""

That's very interesting.. Many people in this group think you can only apply in the country you are currently in. But Jakarta thinks you should apply in your home country.

Do you mind me asking what is your nationality (where is your passport from) ?
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Terary *********
: It is normal for most people to think one should apply in his/ her own country. It is also true that some Embassies do not allow non-residents to apply. Check with the Embassy first. I am holding a Singapore passport.

Congratulations!

Is this visa a sticker that goes in the passport? Does it look similar to the Non-O visa sticker?

I haven't seen anyone post a photo of DTVs approved in SE Asian countries yet.
Erica ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Немања *********
: it's a similar sticker.

Did they require your documents to be stamped from your country’s embassy in Jakarta?

One question: the bank statement was from a bank in Indonesia or a bank in the country you normally live in?
Erica ********

@Elías *******
: Any bank in any country. The staff will look at your bank balance, confirm which currency and she will convert to ensure it is at least 500,000THB.

Question: Have you stayed in Thailand before and just came overseas for DTV application? Because I am in Thailand since February and want to apply it from end of August. So I want to know if it will work for me too.
Erica ********

@He***
: Yes, I flew directly from BKK to JKT.

Congratulations! I am planning to do the same in Jakarta as well as sadly the one in my country ( Singapore) isn't open to DTV currently as well
Alfred *****
@Neo ***********
I too was surprised that DTV isn't available as yet in Royal Thai embassy in SG . Please let me know how you did it , if it's not imposing on you . Thank you
Jennifer ******
@Alfred ****
actually the Thai Embassy in SG told me Singaporeans are not allowed to apply for DTV! I asked how can that be and they don't have a believable answer.
Alfred *****
@Jennifer *****
really?? Singaporean not eligible? What was the bs story they told you
Jennifer ******
@Alfred ****
That there is a new agreement for visa exempt free entry of 60days. DTV is payable at $500 so it does not apply to us. Malaysia, South Korea and Tunisia is also under this new Visa Exempt agreement and they are also not eligible. Well USA and Canada is also visa exempt 60 days entry, so why is it they can get DTV but we can't. Then the Consular service says we must be approved by MFA due to this agreement?! Makes no sense right? Maybe there's something in the fine print of that agreement that they are not telling us. I was already thinking of applying it via other countries, so it's good to know that Jakarta is an option.
Alfred *****
@Jennifer *****
what a load of nonsense ! , and were they Thai or Singaporean staff ? Thanks again and do let me know where you will be applying and if you know how I can use the ' soft power ' category instead of the first one for remote work . TIA
