I am in Penang to get a single entry Non-Im O based on retirement. I brought photocopies of
a) my bank book with 925,000 baht in it (they asked to see the actual bank book and fortunately I had it with me). My copies were 4 days old and that was no problem. most of the money in that account has only been in it for a few days - no problem;
b) photocopy of rental agreement
c) the usual passport photocopies (photo page and visa page)
But they also required a photocopy of my landlord's ID card, which I didn't have, so I was turned away. I went back the next day and I got through.
There is also a space for your Thai guarantor - I just used my landlord.
Agents: That guy Jim Tachinamurthy was abrupt and mostly unresponsive by FB messenger and gave me outdated info. Banana never bothered to answer my email.
So I did it myself.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully applied for a single entry Non-Im O visa for retirement in Penang, providing necessary documents such as a bank book, rental agreement, and passport photocopies. They faced an initial hurdle regarding their landlord's ID card but resolved it the next day. Comments indicate that a police background check is not required in Penang, unlike in Vientiane, and provide insights on waiting times at the immigration office.

Thanx for the update a few people were mentioning they needed a police background check to get a 90 day single entry Non-O in Vientiane, so it's good to know Penang doesn't require it
No problem, Tod. Glad I can help. And next year I'll be sure to have money seasoned so I won't have to do this again because who knows what they'll require next year...or tomorrow.
Times - Yesterday I showed up at 10:10 AM, no problem. There were 22 people ahead of me waiting in the courtyard. Didn't have to wait long.
This morning I showed up a few minutes before 9 AM. There were 20 people ahead of me but the whole time I was there only very few people came after me.
So, it's easy to get in. Maybe numbers are low because people are scared of Penang now.
