Looking for some guidance from anyone who has recently applied for the Thailand DTV visa from India under the Remote Worker / Freelancer category.

Looking for guidance on cancelled application 

I applied for Thai DTV through the Royal Thai Embassy, New Delh under freelance or remote work category. My timeline was:

- Application submitted: May 1

- Payment acknowledged by embassy: May 5

- Application status updated to “Cancelled”: May 11

The cancellation email did not mention any reason, and I have now emailed the embassy requesting clarification.

For context, the documents I submitted included:

- Passport NEW

- Independent contractor agreement

- Bank statements - well above the 500,000 THB requirement (more than double)

- Flight ticket - document indicating current location

- Hotel booking/accommodation details

Additional context that may possibly be relevant:

My work  agreement is from 2023 and explicitly mentions an contractor arrangement.

However, the agreement still reflected my old passport number, while the visa application was submitted using my renewed passport details. I had recently got issued  a new passport in Feb as my previous passport expires this year in October.

The agreement also reflected older compensation details, while my compensation has increased by approximately 30% over the last 2 years.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has faced something similar or has insights into what may have gone wrong / whether reapplying worked for you.

The evisa's website uses OCR to read your passport biodata page and propagate that information into the particular fields of the form. After you upload your photo you must check and triple check that the data was read and entered correctly, and edit if necessary, before submitting the application.

Anonymous participant What do you mean the new password has the old password number? Maybe that might be written in the notes pages of the passport but certainly not on the bio data page.

Cancelled implies a problem with your biodata rather than the application itself. The OCR for your passport data page is notoriously bad and you need to check that carefully before submitting

Most every time it is cancelled that means some personal data you listed didn't match your passport. When it is rejected that means something was wrong with the documents you provided to meet the requirements.

Anonymous participant Usually a cancellation involves an error in how the full name is listen, and not having anything to do with the number, unless you listed it wrong.

I think it's as plain as the nose on your face why your application was cancelled. Different passport numbers on different documents.

Anonymous participant You have to remember the people first reviewing applications are usually low level local hires for admin roles at Embassies and Consulates. Unless everything is straightforward or ex0licitly outlined to them they may err on the side of caution
