What should I consider when submitting flight documents with my DTV application?

Oct 10, 2025
So I’ve been asked to provide flight documents to attach to my DTV application.

I’m hesitant to do so because there’s no guarantee my application will be approved, and I may want to travel a month or so later than the date I originally mentioned.

A few questions:

1. What’s the risk if I arrive a few weeks or even a month later than the date stated in my application? Will this cause any issues with approval or entry?

2. Why isn’t the flight number I found for the same date which I included in the application form not sufficient?

3. Has anyone else received this request before, and how did you handle it if your travel dates weren’t confirmed yet?

4. Do I need to book a return flight?

Thanks in advance for any advice or experiences.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The inquiry revolves around the need for flight documentation for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) application and concerns regarding flexibility with travel dates. Key queries include potential risks of arriving later than the date specified in the application, the necessity of booking a return flight, and the adequateness of a flight number without a purchased ticket. Responses from the community reveal that many embassies do require actual tickets, suggesting booking a refundable flight as a viable option to ensure flexibility while applying. There is consensus on the importance of providing accurate flight details to avoid visa complications, along with shared experiences of individuals who successfully navigated similar situations.

I never had this in London. Unusual.

I booked a refundable ticket in July. I got the visa, cancelled the flight and got the refund then entered in September on totally different flights. No questions asked

London asked for a flight ticket. I paid more and got a flexi.

The application asked for a proposed flight date and number, you're under no obligation to show tickets for that proposed date, you can change your mind or dates.

If you don't do you don't get a visa

Simple as that

I got approved 2 days ago. Only took 7 days through london. Didnt supply rental contract nor TM30 nor travel documents! But I do have over 250k in my business account so I guess they didn’t care 😅

Anonymous participant I guess the point I was making is they seem to look over things in those cases… not that should be ok. It wasn’t meant to be triggering. I don’t see most of that money tbh! But it did help the process…no interview either.

I was asked by London Embassy and I took it as a positive. I was saying in my application I was leaving within the week. I booked the flight and uploaded the e-ticket and was approved within a couple of hours

A lot of your fellow comrades from the UK have been leaving the UK before the visa is approved, thank them for the scrutiny 🧐

I had to provide flight bookings on the way out and a flight booking to leave the country before the end of the 180 days.

I guess they want to see where you are coming from and when. I paid more and booked a flexible ticket as others have suggested.

Many embassies DO require actual tickets. If you're unsure, then book a fully refundable one. It's more expensive, but then once it's granted you can cancel it and buy a cheaper one for any new date.
